On Dec 12, 2010, the Save Our Tigers campaign will culminate in a grand television event on NDTV with live, non-stop programming for an entire day dedicated to tigers, with the aim of creating a public outcry and helping to raise funds to provide Rapid Response Teams to protect our tigers from extinction.

Highlights
The Save Our Tigers Telethon will be a 12-hour live TV special show that will also be televised live across the NDTV channels (NDTV 24x7, India, Profit and Good Times).
The Telethon will start at 11 am on Sunday morning and close at 11 pm on Sunday evening, on December 12th 2010.
Highlights will include:

Call-in chats with celebrities and viewers: Celebs from different walks of life will come into the studio and answer questions of viewers who call in. The hubs will collect money through call-ins and sale of merchandise/auction.

12-hour non-stop anchoring: Ground reporting from the 3 main hubs and live reporting from the major cities across India about each ground event.

Musical performances: Music performances across the country, which will include the likes of Mohit Chauhan, a band called Nine, Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy, Salim-Sulaiman and many others.

Ground level activities: Ground activities across the nation to garner people participation like: Design-a-Tiger logo competition; dens at the location where activities like face painting, local bands’ performance will draw a larger audience and make the ground event more exciting.

Awarding the rangers: To recognize and honour the protectors of the tiger - 4 forest rangers to be felicitated. The rangers will also talk about their lives, challenges and excitement of being on the field. Pre-recorded elements: During the non-stop 12-hour event we will have pre-recorded packages playing throughout the day. Discussions with the stars of these elements will spawn live at the hubs.

  • - Top 5 series which include the Top 5 famous Indian tales, 5 most popular YouTube videos etc.
  • - Documentaries about tigers like Tigers of the Emerald Forest and others.
  • - Highlights of 24 hours with a forest guard in which details about a forest guard’s experiences relating to problems they face on a daily basis.
  • - Nature walk with tiger expert.
  • - Fundraising for the tiger – celebrities to collect personal items from other celebrity friends in order to sell them and raise funds.
