Our national animal is fighting for its life.
From around 40,000 at the turn of the last century, there are just 1411 tigers left in India.
If we don’t act now, we could lose this part of our heritage forever.
Speak up, blog, share the concern, stay informed… Every little bit helps.

every time i think of our tigers current condition , i get a fit of rage against all the people involved in systematically eliminating such a wonderful animal. if tigers are gone.. soon the forest will be eaten off by uncontrolled population of herbivores and all the rivers will dry
.
recently i had been to tiger estimation program in karnataka. There i came face to face with stark reality, here are few
- first of all , the whole forest is covered with weeds like lantana
- very less livestock to feed tigers
- the communication system (wireless walkie talkies) used by forest dept are outdated and most of the time wont work
- vehicles are also very old.
- forest officials are not very serious. i happened to see one ranger who is more interested in collecting ‘mamool’ at checkpost rather than protecting forest
- lots of vehicular traffic on road that goes in forest during night.mindless people stop their vehicles and shout at animals.
- forest staff ( like guards , mahuts etc) are given meagre salary. and are not permanent but temprorary , few from 30 yrs. how can you expect them to give their best when you wont provide them basic minimum facility
- forest guards who goes for beats inside forest looking for poachers wont have shoes.and they get bitten by lots of insects and ticks.
- all these years, beurocrats have enjoyed money from project tiger fund and least bothered to do anything to say our TIGERS
hi. I m from udaipur I m supported Ur project Save animal and But very save as a tiger
Our national animal is fighting for its life.
INDIA BOLE SAVE THE TIGERS!
Lets do something for our National animal, even they have feelings……….. when I c the kid searching for its mom, i really can not differentiate between a small baby of human being n the li’l tiger………. human beings r scared of tigers, they r supposed to b da wild animals……..but unfortunately we human beings hv bcm too wild to left out wid only 1411 tigers………..so lets save tigers, save greenary, plant trees, maintain the eco balance………..otherwise it might lead to da destruction of all………..
we, me n my hubby r jungle lovers, but honestly durin our last few visits of jungles we cudnt c a single tiger………. r we scaring them so much dat they dont wanna visit us…………..
this is a very alarming last movement for all of us take a serious view on the fig given.t to us by the people who r working behind this project
its time to wake up and ror like them not to make them afraid of us but to let them feel that they are the part of our society and we r there to
help them till the earth is on its last path cus every thing is not for everlasting and one day we all are on the last anoop
We share this planet with every living thing on this earth and are not the only owners of it. So why don’t we understand that what we call our home will not be our home for a very long time if we don’t save various spicies from extinction. More than 1 billion Indians and just 1411 tigers.
How indifferent can we be, how insensitive can we be is my question. We blame the government for not doing enough ,for not bringing out tougher and harsher laws against tiger poaching. But who is the government; the government is us .They are human beings just like us ,we choose the government. So why would the government do anything if we don’t. What I am trying to say is that everyone has to do their bit. Everyone has to change.
Just take a look at the tiger cub,Stripey’s, video; it is so heart wrenching. We watch movies and feel sad when a child is seperated from its mother. We can not even imagine what that poor helpless little cub is feeling. What will happen if its mother never comes back. It will either fall into the hands of poachers or will die out of hunger. This is the situation faced by every tiger in the wild. This makes me think that its not the tigers but humans should be heading towards extinction.
I never knew that the numbers will be so less. It’s great that somebody is taking initiative to generate awareness to save our national animal.
plz protect our tigers..its our national pride!!!!
. Let us all come together in our race to save “tiger”
“Majesty, Courage, Power and Grace”, that is how I dream a “TIGER walking in the Forest. My parents say they are not sure if I will be able to see real tigers on our trip to Ranthomber or Sirsca tiger sanctuaries. They say India is left with only 1411 tigers. They say if we are not able to stop any further subtraction from 1411 very soon it will be only the museums where we will be able to see “Tigers”.
Royal Bengal Tiger has been chosen to be the “mascot” for the 2010 Commonwealth Games that will commence from 3rd October in our city of DELHI. This is to symbolize and as well remind us that “Tiger” is our National animal and the ‘commonwealth’ of our country. It becomes therefore the responsibility of you, me and all of us to help our nation, in her fight to save and preserve this “common wealth”.
I think Corporate India can take a much more sound initiative and contribute. I think most of the companies in India are responsible corporate citizens. They should come forward and involve the masses with them in saving the most beautiful creature. I’ll do my bit, so should all of you, my fellow citizens. Good Bye and Let’s pledge to save our National Animal
Hello!!!
I am from alwar, with all the heritage of the world , we yet are missing the most majestic of them all, The TIGER!!!
Sariska, the very well know wild life sanctuary, has got no more life left because of how soon the tigers are vanishing.
Although this is something that needs great attention but um sure, once we all put in a little effort, no matter how small. we will make a difference.
A ripple spreads far and wide but starts only froma slight movement.
We being educated and responsible citizens have the responsibility on us to protect not only our fellow citizens but also our national heritage and flaura and fauna.
You will be heard only if you are loud enough…
Togeteher we can and we will make a difference.
Thanks People…I think the tigers are feeling safer already!!!!

We may get more help thus.!!!!!!!
“i proud be an indin & also proud our national animal”.
if you also then save our tiger. its not only government risponsiblty our to we also protect them
there have been major projects like project tiger to save the tiger, but all of them have gone in vain, what i feel the forest people are responsible for this thing.. they should be held responsible for not being able to save the national animal and this is their duty..
once i saw a documentry in national geographic channel on tigers and that documentry ended in the wordings ” AGAR KAHEEN BAAGHON KE LIYE SURAKSHIT STHAAN HAI TO KEWAL BHARAT MEIN HAI”………………….. hope these wordings actually become true and our great country be the shelter to the mighty animal
Hi this is Siddhartha Bhattacharya from kolkata. First of all, I would like to thank Aircel company for taking initiative in this regard. I SALUTE u. Thank u sir, thank u so very much. Today for this situation government is responsible totally. Forest Department is fully corrupted. Some of their officials, forest guards are not doing their job. Government is just providing money. but beyond that, honesty is very much required in this field which is totally missing. Only honest guy should join forest department who loves animals otherwise potching will continue.
I would request the politician to join us. Only we, we Indians can save our tigers. So WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While you’ve been going through this blog the number of tigers has come down to 1410. By the time you tell your friends it will be 1409…
Guys that’s how fast we are losing our tigers. It’s all right to blog and twitter or “facebook it”. But the truth is the countdown has begun. It’ll take on ground action- real blood, sweat & tears. A pound of your flesh. Maybe your life even. I’m DOING JUST THAT! A few more, no a lot of good men & women doing the same is the Tigers and consequently our best chance. In the world of Tiger defending, THE SWORD IS MIGHTIER THAN THE PEN!!!
hi, from where can we get the SAVE OUR TIGER Tshirts
one more thing can we have a save our tiger day on which we all will participate in a compaign or rallly for save our tiger

I guess when we can fight for our rights, raise voice against injustice on us….cant we do this bit for our national animal….The number of tigers in India has reduced from 40,000 to just 1411….these figures are absolute shockers…!!…Just writing blogs wont help…we all need to seriously chip in and give our full support for this cause….not only for India but our planet as well….!!!!…So lets all Join Hands and fight for the survival of our National animal….I will try to help in every possible way i can..i support aircel initiative…!!!…I SUPPORT “SAVE OUR TIGERS” MISSION….I AM DOING MY BIT…..R U..????
Guys I have been to Corbett recently. I stayed in the Club Mahindra Resort. It is beautiful. But I realise that the resort is build very near on in the National park region just on bank of river. I think all the resorts and hotels in and in the vincinity should be closed down. They can open the resorts and 15 - 20 Km in the villages before the park. I think this can be one of the step to give back to the tigers the space which belongs to them. I hope Club Mahindra do realise it as a their corporate social responsibility and thus encourage others to vacate the place.
Please understand if there are no tigers why would anybody go to the resort.

I am Manoj Kumar from Bangalore, Its high time we wake up..!! Speak and Roar..!! Nice intitiative and i totally support..!!
tigers are the important part of culture. as we know that there are only 1411 tigers we should put our hands forward to save them i.e. our wealth from being extinction.plzzzzzz guyzz….whoever it may it doesnt matter who are u..just your support and help is reqiured for them…
just a little help dat is required…!!!!!!!
common ppl of india diz iz the high time for us…..if our tigers are lost then we gonna loose our identity….!!!!!!!
If people contribute towards the such a good cause the government should make sure that all the money goes for that only and not into the pockets of the irrational and corrupt politicians. TIGERS are our national pride and the government should make sure that even our predecessor should get a chance to see the magnificent creature in the wild without the ENDANGERED tag on it.
Guys……take step to save our own NATIONAL ANIMAL………but if now the hunting & killing of tigers wont stop then the day will also cum when we will tell our next generation about tigers’s existence in only pictures and books………Friends just cum together and let save Tigers…….thanx for all my friends and Aircel for rising awareness over saving tigers and step towards this…!!
hey guys this is akanksha singh from a small U.P. city Faizabad,,guys its time to wake up now…lest we will lose all of them,,only 1411 are left today,,,,lets start doing something which is in our hand,,today no one wants to join the forest department,,todays youth is focused on engg, medical,,and other money oriented professional courses,,inspire the new generation to join the forest department…its too difficlt to break the social lineage of our society but its not impossible,,& today for a quick change lets join the roar & give our best in spreading awareness…..

Hello!!
Do sumthing to sve our National Animal.
I’ m very said to see this.

Dear friends when ever a tiger die i cry, i was very happy when our prime minister showed interst towards saving tigers but after all the efferts by PMO still tigers are being killed. I thank aircell for showing interest in saving our national animal,i would love and appreciate if our all top politicians from all the political parties get together and work together to save Tiger.pl save tiger so that our next generation can see tigers in jungles and not in a ZOO.
Tiger, the national animal of India, is on its way to become extinct. That thought saddens me. Lets all join the pledge and work towards saving our tigers.
Tigers are being poached due to high demand for their parts in medicines in china and other asian countries. China is the highest user of tiger products based medicines. Poaching is high in Asian region compared to other countries due to lack of govt support. Moreover, Royal Bengal tigers are more towards the Bangladesh side of sunderbans where restriction and boundries are porus and poaching and trafficking of tiger skin and products can be managed.
India should announce trading in wildlife products (espicially for tiger) as ZERO TOLERENCE crime with non bailable warrant for at leaast 2 years for people linked in the trade. On a immideate basis, we have to enter into ties with Bangladesh for joint monitoring of Sunderbans in both countries with the help of international community. Secondly, China and other asian countries, where use of medicines manufactured with parts of animals is high, should put these acts under BANNED items with strict punishment.
Tiger is one of the most wonderful creatures in earth and my love for this animal is immense. I’m willing to extend my limited support (part time basis) for any project.
It is so very ironic that the magnificent tiger is our national animal. Such a shame on our part, that we cannot even protect our “NATIONAL” animal. I am very proud to be a part of this tiny effort of ours to save the poor souls.
Wake up Indians!!!
We spent 4 days at the Ranthambhore National park in the winter of 2007. We were so excited when we spotted a tiger on the first day. And that too for a full 1 hour, we saw the tiger feasting on a kill, then cleaning and licking itself, even pooping. We were very excited about the sighting. When I came back and told my friends that I had seen a tiger, they laughed and said ‘just one’. They had expected me to see atleast 10. Does even a zoo have 10 tigers? It was then I realised that people are really not aware about the situation of our national animal. Just 1411 Tigers. If nothing is done I’m sure that day is not far when Tigers are going to a history.
So Awake, Educate people about Tigers, Do not poach or encourage poaching, Give Tigers their space.
Hi Everyone….
I am from Sambalpur,Orissa.Recently I had been to Ranthambore National Park. Its an extremely beautiful place, full of wilderness..the most memorable trip of my life. When we reached there I remember we were late for the first trip that left at 6 am in the morning, but we booked ourselves a gypsy for 2 pm.when we enterd the jungle v that is my cousin,my parents, and my aunt were full of excitement and enthusiasm..i snapped evrythng that came into my way, the monkey, the boar, deers, peacocks, crocks, everything but the tiger..but hte trip had just started and i waz confident of seeing the first tiger in open of my life..as we drove in through the rough patch the excitement kept growing the forest was so mesmerising that we never came too knw that it was tym to go…wait where is the tiger the beast i came so far to see.i was sad,i wondered that may be we really had MURDERED them all….but then we saw a trail, and drove our ecitement to supreme heights…thn a call and there some 50 mtrs away sat a magestic beast,so royal in his posture,in seconds we saww ourselves climbing on our seats to see it.making sure no noise was made to disturb it.i rembr skipping heart beats every1 wud well dats the tiger effect i experienced.I always loved tigers but after seeing it i cant imagine never watching it.I want to see d tiger again and again whnevr i wish to.. so wud u wudnt u????
NO!
THE GOVT ALONE CANT SAVE THE TIGER….NO ONE CAN DO IT ALONE IT NEEDS SUPPORT….OUR SUPPORT!!!
THIS THE BEST CHANCE WE HAVE…THE BEST CHANCE PROVIDED BY AIRCEL AND WWF…LETS NOT LET IT GO LETS GRAB IT…
NATURE HAS MADE HUMANS TO LIVE IN HARMONY WITH THIS CREATURES NOT TO DESTROY THEM…..
JJUST IMAGINE HOW WOULD THE WORLD LOOK AT INDIA IF THE NATION’S NATIONAL ANIMAL IS FOUND NOWHERE IN IT…..SO LETS JOIN HANDS AND POSITIVELY WORK FOR TIGERS…..LETS ROAR TOGETHER..LETS ROAR WITH TIGERS..
Killing any animal is a crime and when it comes to Tiger the NATIONAL ANIMAL of INDIA it is a heinous crime, why kill a tiger just for the sake of some money or for fun. I really condemn this slaughter. The tigers are getting slaughtered at a fastening rate and if no efforts are made at the right time then the day is not very far when this beautiful creature will only be seen in documentary films.
Come on wake up, this responsibility lies with us only. Do not wait for someone else to guide you or spoon-feed you on how to save the Tigers. We are capable of stopping this monstrous activity.
It is really awful to hear the numbers of tigers left. So do whatever you think of saving them. Their helplessness can be seen in their eyes, they need our help.
Guys it is not the time to SOAR, It’s the time to ROAR
hi, this is vini 4m kota.
we need to do sumthing to protect these precious and innocent creatures.i joined here 2day and i’ll prompt ol my frnz to join n make a wise effort in this matter….wake up ppl of india……we cant just let go of our national prestige so easily…….i hope this roar of ourz reaali creates some difference………….

SAVE OUR TIGERS…….SAVE OUR EARTH
Hi! I am from New Zealand
Watching this advertisement on Television about the danger our national animals are in really made me and my family think about what it what be like to live lonely and hungry for a time as long as 3 months. My, with my family would like to contribute towards this great deed in saving those tigers left in India…. lets speak it out and loud… save our tigers
friends,
here we are with a limited count for our national animal. i belong to west bengal, the land of royal bengal tigers. last year in april i, with my family, visited the sundarbans. nothing wondering that we could not see any tiger. but after we returned, we received the news of a tiger attacking and killing a woman near the place we visited (pakhiraloy).
sad no doubt. but why tigers are coming out to human localities and killing human and human belongings as preys! the answer is simple, there is not enough resource for them to live in jungles. humans are disturbing the jungles and when jungles come out to humans, we say it is sad.
why it is not sad when we kill an animal!
recently my friends visited Pench tiger reserve in MP. note, it is a tiger reserve. they did not see any tiger at all.
same stories are blowing in the wind. can we help!
we can help.
we can be a responsible tourist who does not litter the forest.
we can stop shopping fancy products made from the animal’s body parts.
we can stop going to circuses who are using animals.
we can do a bit.
so let’s start with a bit.
because a long journey starts with a single step….
What a shame….We have left with only 1411 tigers in our country. This is a matter of greater concern. The highly appealing ad on TV making people realizes about the issue and making them raise voice against it. This campaign is a very good step towards saving our national animal. By all means we need to ensure whatever Tigers are in our Zoo’s and other sanctuaries are protected and their families progress…..
I truly support “Save our Tigers” mission & will help in every possible way I can.
