Our national animal is fighting for its life.
From around 40,000 at the turn of the last century, there are just 1411 tigers left in India.
If we don’t act now, we could lose this part of our heritage forever.
Speak up, blog, share the concern, stay informed… Every little bit helps.

I strongly agree with the Krishnamoorthy’s view. It should be made public and all the data and statistics from Government should be disclosed honestly so that that we can see the real picture. Why should a private telecom company always take initiatives when things go worse than expectations. This is nothing but the apathy of government and the safeguard system that we are always kept deprived of these data. We have the right to know about the fund involved, officials and guards deployed in National Parks and the various safety and security measures taken for these vulnerable animals.
Unless we all are on the same page and kept unaware of the real picture, it will be tough to keep the figures of the recent data to keep it getting down and even make it constant.
Hope our ministers hear a scream and painful roar of these ‘dumb’ animals….
may be till i finish writing this comment…..more tigers would be poached, more cubs would be orphaned..
this is really a national shame … india is known for bengal tigers…….and we cant let those cruel poachers kill our tigers…
its now time to speak up and act…..or the most chivalrous animal on this planet would become a part of fairy tails and fictions…..
and i suggest that aircel should start thier services in other small cities like nagpur too…so that people like us can do their best for
“SAVE OUR TIGERS”….
.
.
.
Thank You aircel for taking this initiative……

Hey! guys,
Our country is facing a very critical condition & we all know that very well . That our national animal is asking our help to save his life so its our responsibility to save our national animal ” TIGER ” which is getting extinct very soon if we all don’t fight for it so come on with one voice lets save it & show that” BOSS DON’T WORRY ALL IS WELL” . On our part , we should contribute our little support because ” EVERY LITTLE DROPS MAKES AN OCEAN “.So that in our future we can see our national tiger show our grand children.
Hey guys we should think on that issue because indians are the best in the world we have to roar with tigers to save them so roooooooooooar like a tiger to save the royality of tigers

“It needs a heart of Lion to save a Tiger”
India has been home to Tigers for a very long time. If one has seen a Tiger they are just awed by the beauty, power and aura of the magnificent beast. Tigers were found all over India and still as many as 16 States of India are home to the Tigers. The latest census report released on 12th. February, 2008 by the Government of India reports that there are only 1411 tigers left. The population of the Tiger has been reduced by nearly 50% and that too in a period of 6 to 7 years.
It is time that emergency and drastic steps are taken to save the pride of jungle and pride of India from becoming extinct. The causes of the fast decrease in the Tiger population are well known both by the government and common people. The increasing pressure on Tiger habitats due to agriculture, industrialization and degradation and fragmentation of natural habitats, forests and natural grasslands are one of the main reasons for the decrease of Tiger population and for that matter all wildlife in India. The immediate effect of this is lack of natural food and habitat causes the wild animals to come out of the forest area. This tends to increase the conflicts between the humans and animals. The other reason for the population decrease is Poaching, which has been on rise recently. There is a slogan I have been hearing for quit some time, ” If the buying stops, the selling will stop”. I think the rich people who are the only one who can afford buying the skins for their fancies are probably deaf, as they cannot seem to hear the slogan. The poaching problem should be dealt with strictly by the Government of India and the concerned State Governments. The Forest Department of India is severely understaffed and they do not have the modern weapons and technology to protect the Forest areas. The laws for the animal protection should be revised.
The poachers should be shot dead on sight. How can a forest guard armed with a stick [danda] or an outdated rifle fight the heavily armed poachers to protect the animals. It is time the Government of India acts urgently.
The people of India should also join hands to save the Tiger. NDTV India has started a campaign to save the Tigers, please help the cause by signing the petition, please go to the link below to sign the petition online and help the Tiger.
We know that if we lose a natural resource, we do not get it back
eg. we have lost the Indian Cheetah and it is extinct
But “Tiger” is our national animal and we are letting it go in the hands of death
Tigers are on the verge of extinxtion
this is happenong because of poaching, cutting of forests, and killing them just for fun and leather
Our government does not even take any action against the poachers or appont any brave soldiers in the forest areas
We too support it as we buy leather from the market, maybe the seats in your car are made of leather, or your wallet
there is a saying “Act Before It Becomes Too Late”
I am of 14 years so i will not say much, but please dont buy leather or wood of Sundri Trees(they grow in Sunderbans) or Chandan
we can raise our voice together, pray for them, and unity is strength
so remain united and
PRESERVE OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL AND THE SMILE ON ITS FACE
JAI HIND

As you people know we are all killing tigers, our national animal just for fashion. People are sometimes smarter than they should be at these points. In some countries, people kill tigers for their nails which are really costly. First they used to kill tigers for fear, then they started killing them because they loved their skin for wall hangings, decorations. and finally you know why we are killing them know. In past, there used to be more than 40,000 in India, more forests and more animals, and now only 1,400 left? And 39,000 gone? I think this site in which I have written this blog, is really worth it. I salute people who have joined the roar. And in future, I want to see 10 times more animals, trees and tigers than it is know.
I am a 9 year old girl, and really care for nature, in school I always study about nature and how to take care of it.
some points are…….
1. close the tap immediately after use
2. fix a leaking tap
3. bath with a mug and a bucket instead of a shower
4. never use things made of leather
These poachers and hunters should be killed for killing our national animal. I am in the support to save our tigers will always remain in support. Come on India wake up to this call!!!!!!!!
LETS NOT DEPEND ON GOVT. FOR EVERY THING , THERE ARE ALREADY MORE THAN 60,000 PEOPLE ROARING. WHY CAN,T WE ALL GET TOGATHER AND RAISE OUR OWN FUNDS AND SPEND PROPERLY AND WORK HAND IN HAND WITH FOREST PEOPLE AGAINST POACHERS .

“I ONLY WANTS U PEOPLE TO COME UP WITH AN IDEA HOW CAN WE LET PEOPLE REALISE THT,IF WE STOP ENTERING INTO THR TERROTARY THE PROBLEM WOULD 20% SOLVED ATLEAST”

“SAVEOURTIGERS”
STOP POACHING. Organised criminals are involved. Privatise the forests and you’ll have Ten times this number of tigers in next 10 to 15 years. Govetnment employees get a cut in every tiger that is killed and sold in Nepal. The skin goes to Eueope and West the bones are utilised for medicine in China.
Hi Everybody
Some months back I saw in a TV channel that a panther has been killed in Jammu and kashmir by the local resident with the help of the Local Police. Not only that I have seen the clipping that the Police shot the Panther down..the only CRIME that the panther has done that he became the intruder in the village in search of food…..My grandfather was a freedom fighter,he fought for my country INDIA.Truly I am proud that I belong from this family and my family fought to free INDIA. I am proud to be INDIAN……Not anymore, now I am ashamed of myself to call INDIAN.
I believe this would not happen if the Britishers would have ruled our country as they are more organised than us and less corrupted.
Still we have time to fight against this corruption….I would also request the RESPECTED LEADERS of our country to step down honestly into this matter without judging any personal or party benefits…atleast on the basis of Humanitarian ground.
If my comments hurt anyone’s ego then I am helpless but I do not regret what I have said…and I will not.
I AM ASHAMED TO CALL MYSELF AS INDIAN
Lastly I want to thank AIRCEL for the initiative…Please let us do something for this together, plz, plz.
GOD will not forgive us if we do not..:(
ITS HIGH TIME WE SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT INSTEAD OF PASSING THE BLAME….. .ONLY 1411 TIGERS LEFT IN INDIA WHICH MAY REDUCE TO 14 ALSO SO WE SHOULD JOIN OUR HANDS AND FIGHT FOR THIS MAJESTIC AND AMAZING PREDATOR OF THIS PLANET EARTH BECAUSE TOGETHER WE COULD BE THE CHANGE OF OUR LIVING PLANET SAVE TIGERS SAVE OUR PLANET.
I will write for the poachers:- Dear, “fellow human beings” just wanna tell you that human beings are the most gifted creatures in the entire world who has been gifted with brains to generate revenue from any substance on earth. Why be cruel and poach such beautiful creatures when u can actually draw income from water!!! who gave you the right to destroy that which you cannot create? Ponder over and b a cause for the preservation rather destruction!!
Please save our national animal. This is my request i m a 11 years old boy.
tiger is very imp animal in india also asia pls protect agains killer pls people.pls pls pls …………………………
IT’S SAD AND REALLY DEPRESSING TO SEE OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL DYING DAY BY DAY ITS LIKE LOOSING THE TREASURE OF A LIFTIME
THIS IS A REQUEST TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN HUNTING AND KILLING INNOCENT ANIMALS!!!
PLEASE DONT ROB YOUR OWN COUNTRY BY KILLING A SCARET ANIMAL OF OUR NATION
OUR COUNTRY HAS ALREADY SUFFERED A LOT HAS ALREADY LOST A LOT BY BRITISH INVASION
NOT NOW WE SHOULD ALL RISE TOGETHER AND SAVE OUR TIGERS AND I WILL BE THE FIRST IN THE ROW TO HELP THEM LETS COME TOGETHER AND PROTECT OUR NATION AND ITS BELONGINGS IN EVERY FORM
PLEASE ITS A REQUEST BECAUSE IN UNITY THEREZ POWER
WE ARE INDIANS AND WE SHOULD BE PROUD IN IT
LETS COME TOGETHER AND PROTECT OUR TIGERS…..
Thanks to government and our “Responsible” bureacracy for this….
Forest Officers and Rangers have fixed commision for every Tiger killed by poachers.. The whole system(forest department, police, forest ministry etc) is involved in poaching and nourishing illigal hunting…
We have enough laws but not right bureacrats to implement them…
As TIGERS are being killed, the GENE POOL of the ‘PANTHERA TIGRIS’ is becoming smaller and smaller… After some more deaths, their rehabilitation would not be easy with limited number of genes of few animals. And they will be facing the same problem which CHEETAHS of Africa are facing now(less adaptability due to inter-breeding)..
Lets not depend on the Government and do something on our own…
Its my ROAR for those lovely and magnificant tigers..

Hi all,
Just wrote something about tigers and join society and groups r not enough efforts. We just need to take some actions (stop hunting not even tiger but also all animals or birds) at our levels whether its small step or not but its really give result.
Actions defined as put yr social, economical power to save tigers. try to catch hunters as well as those people who don’t perform their job to save tigers at animal department or forest department too.
bcoz its INDIA, everything is happened with lower level to give some money to people for getting tigers.
SO Please STOP these actions.

please save our national animal so that in future our kids can see them alive not in pictures…….. And follow the rule “LIVE AND LET OTHERS LIVE”. Even we dont have right to disturb any creation of god which is very nicely provided by god to us . so be carefull and do something for it.
Hi all lets do something for the tigers.Just imagine you have gone to a tiger reserve and when you are looking for a tiger the guide says that all of them are dead as the poachers have killed them all, then you go to a zoo and you find there also all tigers are not there. What will you tell your next generation or your little brother or sister that once upon a time there you used to be a very beautiful and dangerours animal in India called “TIGER”.Plese friends do anything from the forests and other natural habitat of the tigers from getting destroyed…..save the tigers and other other wild animals.
ya…..we people have take some steps to save our tigers
i will take steps
tiger is our national animal… now its high time time to do something to save these beautiful animals to get extinct………..just imagine a country whose national animal has extinct ………….grow up people stop being so very selfish …………..why do we always think about us …………we are human beings….we are gifted with a brain which can come to many uses ………..so why not use it for saving tigers…………they cant shout ,speak, sms or blog………..they cant fight for themselves ……..we should understand it by ourselves …..plzzxzzz have heart people…have heart for those animals who are a part of india’s rich heritage………stop being so greedy stop thinking about what you can earn………think what should not be lost now………….coz we still have time we can make a DIFFERENCE n you can too……….
save them ……..show them yhat you love them thet you care for them and thet you will not leave them ……………
and i really want to do something to save tigers …….this is a request to aircel that if i can come to any use for this lovely cause i’ll be most delighted………..currently i’m working for the betterment of animals at alocal level with a trust but i would love to join hands to work for the betterment of tigers at a national level
thankyou aircel for giving me space to speak my mind up!!!!!………..
Save tigers! Let us take the steps on the right time before we say it is too late… Let us contribute in our own ways and tell our government “We are not sleeping!”
We are the most powerful creature on earth, it doesn’t mean we destroy like this… it is time to give back to nature. 60k are awake, more will join us.
Let us take steps with hand in hand and save this beautiful creature. Save Tigers!!!!!!!
HII I;M IN FAVOUR OF KILLING THE HUNTERS WHO DARES TO KILL OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL. I WIL SUPPORT THE GOVT FOR SAVING THEM. I WILL WRITE TO EDITORS TO DO EVERYTHING.BEING A 14 YEARS OLD CHILD I WILL DO WHAT COULD I BE ABLE TO FOE OUR NATIONAL HERITAGE AND WILL DO EVERYTHING TO PROTECT IT!!

I’m having plans to open up a booth at my college fest to provide information about the ‘Save Our Tigers’ initiative & persuade my college mates to join the roar…..
Evary small contribution counts so guys it’s time to speak up & Contribute…………….
My views on this
1- Increase pay for the caretakers for such parks , the lack of such will only fuel one’s need for more money eventually leading to nothing but greed for more.
2- I second a lad’s opinion here on taking on wild life parks as going PRIVATE. Like he rightly said , everyone has a cut in everything and it does’nt take long for one rotten maggot to pollute the entire crop.
3- Tighten up the screws on the loopholes in the export sector , eliminate corruption and penalize those who are caught in fraud acts severe. If nothing is allowed to export , atleast one front of the tiger exploitation will be closed.
4- Our system is education really needs to have a revamp… the youth of today need to be exposed not just once but several times towards the crimes as such. For now , the Indian education system atleast from a broader view is all about the academic performance period.
5 - Stop the blame game
This is Harish Kumar Arora from Hansi distt. Hisar of Haryana, India. Tigers or any animal or any other spices on our planet earth must be saved for sake of almighty nature and ofcourse GOD. Otherwise destructive reply from nature will ruins us and our planet. Our Govt., NGO , international NGO working on these types of projects and even common people must join hand together to save the Tigers in INDIA. I supports this project.
For this particular matter, i feel ashemd to be an educated indian. we are superpowering in all other factors but are nothing in saving the animal life. There should be more aggressive awareness in this matter and if given work, i will surely work hard for the same no matter how much time i have to spend for it.
Nature has always helped in flourishing the mankind. But this isn’t about what nature gives to you, its what you, as a human being give back in return. Are you concerned about nature? Does saving the endangered species and taking necessary actions for those who are on the brink of extinction means something to you? Then join hands with the wildlife organizations to save mother Earth!!!!!!!
NOW ITS TIME TO TAKE ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!
I JUST NOW SAW THE ADVERTISEMENT TELECASTED ON PART OF AIRCEL, TO SAVE OUR TIGERS ANS SWEET CUBS LIKE STRIPEY. MY INNER SELF STARTED CRYING BY SEEING THE NUMBER 1411 WHICH IS THE NO. OF TIGERS ONLY LEFT IN INDIA.
IF WE DOES NOT ACT AGAINST IT, WE WILL LOSE A PART OF OUR MAMMALIAN FAMILY. WE WILL DISORIENT OUR ECOSYSTEM.
I HAVE ROARED HERE, AND HAVE ALSO SEEN THAT MANY OF THE PEOPLE ARE ALSO RAISING VOICE AGAINST THE EXTINCTION.
LET US UNITE TOGETHER, AND TAKE IMMEDIATE STEP TO SAVE OUR ANIMAL, OUR FAMILY MEMBER. TIGERS ARE AN ASSET TO HUMAN CIVILIZATION, TO THIS ENTIRE WORLD.
I AM WITH U STRIPEY… AND ME, WITH ALL OTHER SUPPORTERS WILL TRY OUR LEVEL BEST TO FIND YOUR MOTHER, TO SAVE U….. TO GIVE U A HAPPY HOME…….
The number of Tigers left is so alarming that some thing needs to be done IMMEDIATLY. It is not clear whether this includes the number of Tigers in Zoo as well. I pray that it does not, else tigers are really doomed.
The biggest threat to Tigers is from poachers who kill them for it’s skin, teeth and claws. The demand for these is substantial and remains unsatiated from east Asian Countries. Presently the tigers can be kept in captivity only in Govt. Zoos.
What if Govt allows setting up of private zoos and allows tigers in private captivity ? What if they are allowed to be cloned ?
Not denying that Tiger is the king of Jungle and needs to be protected in its natural habitat. But trying to do that we have reached this stage and if the situation does not improve, will have nothing left in Jungle.
Having Tigers in private custody and cloned will atleast satisfy some demand of it and will reduce incentive for poachers to train their guns on precious few left in Jungles.
plz save tigers ……….. they r our national animals……….. all white tigers r died…….. nd only1411 bengal tigers r left……… let us take pledge 2 save dem………. thnx
hello i am anshul studying in 11 standard , acc. to me as a school boy i can say that schools can also take initiative by contributing …………
This was such a shock when I heard about it. Really depressing. It’s awesome that you guys are spreading awareness on this ! Save our Tigers !
feeling very bad and sad at the plight of Tigers. It’s our last opportunity to do something concrete to save our treasure and to preserve our heritage. We have the strength to weed out the evils of society and the threat to Tigers. We should stop using all kinds of products made out of animal skin and their by-products. Please, we can all make a difference to their lives and to our habitat. Remember we can’t take anyone’s life when we can’t give them back. Please….
Why, we INDIANS are not aware for save & protect “TIGERS”, when we all know that TIGER is our NATIONAL ANIMAL. If we can not save or protact TIGERS, then we are not able to be an INDIAN.
PLZZZZZZZ, come one step aheard for save our NATIONAL ANIMAL- “TIGER”. if we can not save TIGER, it’s no. falls more.
So, plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,
SAVE TIGERS & BE A TRUE INDIAN
Only 1411 tigers its the most shocking thing i pledge to do my best to save a tiger
dear sir,
Thanks to all because some celebraties are invite to “SAVE OUR TIGERS” and Invite the major people to connect every person who thinks about OUR National Animal. Major liabilities the forest officer & Its related people & live near villegers and state govt. they have count thier foot gaurd & Cauaf save to it. Every NGO & Semi GOVT. Commitee to given prize for exellence work for the TIGERS & FOREST & living tigers with our enviorment educated.
hi,
the number 1411 is also large.
i think there would be only around 1000 tigers left in India.
considering that there are around 150 of them in sunderbans so the no. in rest of the country comes around to 850 which is alarmingly low.
also, how many of us has spotted a tiger in any of our tiger reserves on our last visit?
that explains it all.
only we together can save our national animal from brink of the extinction only and only if we act now.
so spread the word to as many people as possible to protect our national animal
MAY GOD HELP US IN THIS EFFORT .
LONG LIVE THE ROYAL BENGAL TIGER
only writing a blog or blaming leaders or system, we cant do anything. pple just like to loud their movement against corrupt system, Poochers kills our tigers and forest or police department leave them by taking bribe, then we dont do anything. jago…………………..

Hi,
In the 1970’s we came dangerously close to losing forever one of the world most magnificent creatures. Poaching, deforestation, and human expansion brought all species of tiger to the brink of extinction. Indeed, over the past century, 3 of the 8 sub-species that existed became extinct; the Caspian, Javan and Balinese tigers. Today, we are by no means out of the woods. All remaining sub-species of tiger are endangered, making the tiger species as a whole nearly extinct.
some extinct species of tigers r:::
1.The Javan tiger once roamed the Indonesian island of Java. The last one was seen in 1972 and is now believed to be extinct.
2The Caspian tiger once ranged from Turkey to Central Asia, including Iran, Mongolia, and Central Russia. They went extinct in the 1950’s
3.The Bali tiger existed on the island of Bali. The last one was killed in 1937. There are no existing photos of a live Bali tiger.
ENDANGERED
The smallest and darkest subspecies, Sumatran tigers are reddish and have closely spaced stripes. The males average 250 lbs. About 400-500 remain in the wild, exclusively on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. About 210 of this subspecies are captive around the world. Official status: ENDANGERED.
The Bengal tiger is the most populous type, with between 2500 and 4700 remaining in the wild. Most live in the mangrove forests of the Sundarbans in eastern India and Bangladesh. Some also live in the neighboring countries Bhutan, Myanmar, and Nepal . There are about 333 Bengal tigers in captivity. Males typically weigh around 500 pounds; the females about 300. All white tigers are male Bengals and have a double recessive gene that causes the coloration. Official status: ENDANGERED.
Indochinese tigers are centered in Thailand, but also in surrounding countries - Myanmar, southern China, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and peninsular Malaysia. They are smaller and darker than Bengal tigers, averaging around 400 pounds for males and 300 for females. Males average about 9 feet long and females about 8 feet in length (not counting the tail). Numbers in the wild are estimated to be in the range 1227-1785. There are about 60 in zoos. Official status: ENDANGERED.
These guys are the largest of the big cats, weighing in at 675 pounds and stretching a full 11 feet. The heaviest Siberian Tiger on record was 1025 pounds (Guiness Book of World Records). Only about 360-470 exist in the wild and there are roughly 490 captive. Their habitat is mostly Northeastern Russian. Despite their size, they have been known to jump as far as 33 feet. Official status: ENDANGERED. For more on Siberian tigers, see http://www.siberian-tigers.com - a general resource of information with numerous links to other Siberian tiger sites.
Unfortunately, there are perhaps only 20-30 South Chinese tigers left in the wild and 47 in Chinese zoos. They are found in central and eastern China. China joined CITES in 1981 and passed the Wild Animal Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China in 1988. Official status: ENDANGERED.
i wished if i could also add some pics of tigers to show how charming&graceful they r
PLEASE SAVE OUR TIGERS
We should take out a campaign to poach those poachers who are destructing our national pride and nature’s one of the finest masterpieces.
We should take up active initiative to stop those poachers then only our tigers can breathe free.
We should NOT TRY…
but shall DO IT…before ITS TOO LATE…
While we all appreciate this collaborative innitiative….. that brings all together for a cause such as this…. as one can see for self by visiting this site and read the blogs.. i m one of u and deeply into admiration of these majestic cat specie. I am as emotional as the views expressed by so many friends sharing similar feelings. However, I believe its important for all to be aware that objectives at times get blurr if one gets overwhelmed by emotions. We are in control of how we can contribute with our limitations… but what we should know is .. when and how do we start an enquiry? to avoid such SOS situation. I don’t know if all of us want to take a step back and understand what work has actually gone in to conservation for the time gone till date…. Pls. don’t misunderstand / misinterpret / misrepresent this message.
