Just 1411 left.

Just 1411 left.

Our national animal is fighting for its life.

From around 40,000 at the turn of the last century, there are just 1411 tigers left in India.

If we don’t act now, we could lose this part of our heritage forever.

Speak up, blog, share the concern, stay informed… Every little bit helps.

To save tigers we need to
1-Change the working culture of BRITISH MADE depertment of forest.
2-Involve specially trained veterinarians and biologists to make proper breeding policy for this species
3-Besides national parks, sanctuaries and tiger projects, develop sound infrastructure to support wild life in other jungles of india.
4-Complete ban on functions like party, marriages and tourism in and around areas surrounding habitat of tigers.
5-Shift the tigers from one area to another area, according to their numbers and area occupied.
6-make public aware about myths of using different body parts of this precious animal, as the end user of all the material after poaching is public.
7-Declare the ” mission to save tigers” as a national mission and enact the rules & regulations accordingly.

  8. Chanam Rozer Singh says:

Saying is very easier than doing. I am happy that so many people are writing about saving tigers but I hope atleast some people do whatever they have said otherwise it will still be the same. The message should be spread each and every corner of the world specially Indian villages as Tigers are still found in most of the small and big jungles of India. As, I am from Manipur I know that Tigers are still there but people don’t really care about them. So, I think we should spread these messages to every corner even where there is no facility of Television, Radio, Internet, newspaper because saving of tiger will start from those places not from cities.

  9. Veena says:

The very pic of the cub makes our hearts melt, and reach out to it for help. I don’t think anyone of us would want to wait to tell our grandchildren that the tiger “was” our national animal. Before anyone feels that this wonderful initiative is worthless,I would advice such people to go just have a look at the picture on the homepage of this blog. I think it is time we actually exhibited our national integration and save this beautiful animal!

  11. Namita Kamath says:

Dear our nation people please help our tigers from the hunters. Help the govt in such a good cause. Your one small step can save some one’s life.
Just imagine you asking for help? Keep yourself in those tiger’s place for once, then you will feel the pain that the animals are going through. The tigers are asking for help. Even they may be feeling the need of someone who could help them out? Lets us get together and save them. Let us say to them that “there is no need to worry we are there to help them out”

  12. Amar Yadav says:

    1. the most important thing is awareness of people baout the tiger and thier importance in our life, who are living near or inside the forest and sanctuaries. bocz they are more close.
    2. providing good quality or equipment and good training, also good salery so that they should not involve in any illegale work there.
    3. there should be some educational programmes in our schools about wild life, which will aware the new generation about wild life
    4. we should control our population so that we should not enter in their(wild animals or tigers) home for our need.
    5. there should be very hard punishment for the people who kills them just for few bucks so that others should not attempt to do the same

writing blog will not help it will only suggest some ideas but most probably will not execute………

so pls wake up and do whatever u can do at ur end
    jai hind

  13. Raj Aryan says:

    Dear Citizens,

It’s time we wake up to roar again loud & clear. Its the moral duties & responsibilities of each one of us to conserve & preserve the Tigers which is the national animal of the great country where we live in, called India. Can u imagine to live in a country where there wont be any tiger left and when askd abt the national animal of the country we will be ashamed of ourself to answer, let us not allow such situation to come, let us all come together to save this national heritage…… we can & we should, its only the will that is reqd.

    Lets roar again.

  18. abhi says:

it’s a very good initiative. creating awareness is the best way bt now it’s action, ve to protect it… the biggest threat is poaching. v ve to stop poaching other wise it’s very difficult and other problem is unavailability of medical care. If v cn rectify this two major problems then there is good hope.

  19. Shakiba says:

We have to start the process from the ground level. Tigers play an important role in our food chain and we need to educate our people mainly from rural areas. I am sure we can help to save the worlds majestic animal by volunteering such education and wildlife conservative programs.

  20. khilendra queerA says:

APPEAL TO HUNTERS AND SKIN LOVERS,

  21. Samrat Sahai says:

dear citizen of our lovely india,

well this is a sad news that there are only 1411 tigers left in india there was a time when india have so many tigers i think around 40000 tigers. the govervnment have taken steps to save the tigers but we should also conclude something in it. friends we can ddepositte some money in the wildlife fund of india. a bit of help can also bring again the happiness in the life of the beautiful creatures of god and gift of the nature. suppose if the tigers would get extinct from our country and if someone asked about our national animal of our country then what answer we will give ..?? nothing we will be left ashamed in ourselves and who will be the reason for this.?? we only because the BLACK MARKET in india is on its peak..!!
my dear friends i urge you to save the beauty of our forests please..

  22. Abhishek Gaur says:

In a race of “Survival of the Fittest”, we humans have crossed all the lines to prove to ourselves that there is absolutely no boundaris drawn. But doing so we have encroched in the grounds which is very necessary for the survival of everyone. Shrinking forests—Widening of road network, Chaning of Season Pattern—-Global Warming, Save Our Tigers—Poaching, Enterance into their area and hunt them down for our own safty like killing in their own home for our safty.
Lots of awareness is required specially to villagers those who are staying near to Kings Habitate. And support from government to do something which is vanishing insteade of playing politics on some dirty topics which are not at all of use. I think which is very rare to happen so everyone lets Lead the initiative and tell everyone to join hands in Saving “THE BEAUTY”.
Talk of this initiative, ask for donations, go to NGOs every possible bit can help in bringing a BIG change

  23. Joel says:

Tell me how concrete are these options given to us to save tigers…will speaking up help…this is a very sensitive issue…I AM FOR TIGERS….Awareness would just show numbers about the depleting species. But what about accountability about what we have lost. Are you telling me the security forces of the forest authorities are so incapable to wade off Poachers, well its common sense poachers poach cause some bunch of rich fools want to buy. So are we talking about the suppressed Authorities or the oppressed tigers. Just because mindless poachers have a gun …they bring the majestic beast down. And here we are talking about the “Pen being mightier than the Sword” while their “Actions are speaking louder than what we are trying to “Tell” ” …….How long we’ll speak..how many …roars would you collect …how many votes do you want to assert ” We want them to live”….Have You realised no one would want “Our Tigers” to die …the odds are 90 to 1……And we re letting..the One to do what they want…..While we are…trying to save the Tigers here..i bet there would have been another deal struck…another factory opened…more chemicals flown into the sea….and wisely factories let out their SMOG when its time to sleep…..I want to be optimistic…and i will be…

  24. U.M.Manjunath says:

  27. Dear Friends

Just:- 1411 left, its a big sorrow to feel with heart , it we will not wake up early for fighting this problem we will never see any tiger in our country , we must try our best to increase the population of tigers , tiger is our national animal and we should do our best to save them. tiger is proud of our country and we are able to do that. we should protect trees and fight against the hunting of tigers. without tigers our environment will be totally disturbed . we must stop the people who kill them. government should become a strict against the killer who kill tigers.

    Save Tigers Save Environment.

  28. Almira Menezes says:

With only 1411 remaining, its time we act rather than just discussing.Hope the Govt. and the citizens of India realize the urgency of the moment.

  29. Sameer says:

We need to find out the culprits of tiger hunting… all those who are directly and indirectly involved in making money from the hunting… Must be heavily penalized and put behind bars.

  32. Arun Nair says:

    Dear citizens,

I know that most of our Indian citizens consider tigers as maneaters,an animal spreading terror and horror bla bla bla…but one thing I like remember all of our indian citizens is that…All the humans require food and we eat food three times a day and if we forgot eating food any one time also then we start saying our friends and colleagues that AH! I am so hungry yaar if we suffer through such condition then why don’t the tigers infact they are also living beings they also have heart and hunger like us.And if no animals where left in jungles what do they eat.So Friends I only like to say that forgotting all those things come on… let us join together and save pride of our nation.Save our precious wild Tigers and their Depleting(Decreasing)generation.

save our Tigers save our pride.

    Jai Hind!

  33. Vijayalakshmi N says:

Stripey is very cute and the photograph conveys the vulnerability and helplessness of the cub. My heart goes out for the little one. Stripey, I fully support you!

It’s pathetic that only 1411 tigers are left in India and the government authorities are doing little to save our national animal. Soon, it will become extinct like the dinosaur if corrective measures are not taken to save the tiger.

    1. Stringent anti-poaching laws should be implemented. Vigilance and patrolling should be increased in areas which have high incidence of poaching and also areas where poachers are suspected to reside. Police as well as locals should take active part in this.

    2. Govt. should crack down on illegal trading of tiger skins and parts which are smuggled to China and other nearby nations. All ties need to be cut off with these countries if they don’t comply with the ban on this illegal trade. Developed nations should black list countries who eat tigers, trade in tiger skin and parts and also stop all financial help.

    3. Steps should be taken to control the population in India. Tribals and people living in villages tend to encroach on tiger reserves and park lands due to which there is human-animal conflict. Areas should be clearly demarcated for tiger reserves, zoos or national parks and tribals / villagers should not be allowed to build their huts within 10 km or a specified distance of these areas.

    4. Global warming also leads to natural deaths of tigers so steps should be taken to control it.

  34. Manjur Ansari says:

Ya, the tigers should be saved for the future generation. Ya now a days tigers are decresing in num,ber because of the human. We are killing our country’s national animal. We should have shame on ourself for doing this!

    Thank You

  35. Gaurav Koley says:

Seeing stripey all alone makes my heart melt and i believe that he didnt have to wait for his mother if maybe we, humans, hadnt killed her.
    Manjur’s right!
We should be ashamed of ourselves for doing this!!!!

  36. Jawed Akhtar says:

Our National Animal needs our help let us all pool in..

  37. Pradhyoth says:

Just compare:-110 billion of us and just 1411 of our beloved TIGERS.Don’t you think its a deep matter of concern. It’s a question of our national pride. There has to be a constant and a planned effort to protect the tigers and increase their population. We must fight together the people hunting them and create a conducive and a protective environment for them.
SAVE TIGERS AND SAVE OUR PRIDE.

  38. Aftab says:

I am feeling very bad about the tigers :(

  39. karthik says:

    All you guys out there

The count from 10000 is gone to 1411….i mean what the heck is happening . 40. Bhushan Tongaria says:

  41. ARNAB says:

    NOW!

    Adieu ………….

  42. Prasanna Menon says:

It is really heartening to see the little tiger cub so insecure and frightened. He needs his mother and other family members to make him secure and roam about in that majestic stride of his…. But today, he is unsure of his future as he may soon fall prey to the bullets of a poacher driven by greed. Such people should be deskinned to make them realize the pain. Our national pride, the tiger is scared of man even though it is called a maneater!!! More actions than words should start taking place now… Or else we will just be talking about this and the numbers will go on rising. The forest authorities and the government should take steps to ensure that we do not lose out national animal to the pages of history!!

  43. Neha says:

save our tiger means —>stop cutting the tree , it help our triger to surview in there own space and enjoy the freedom of the life
as we human beign need a place to enjoy our freedom they also hav equal right for the same.

  44. shirish says:

save our tigers & save proberb ” SHER DE PUTTER” cause jab sher hi nahi honge to hum apne bachhon ko kinki tarah banana chahenge.
    awaj uthao aur tiger bachao.

  45. sandeep says:

If the Govt. is serious about saving tigers, then it should remove all those corrupt forest officials and setup a new wildlife protection force containing tiger scientists, wildlife experts and animal lovers and they should be given full authority and power, then i am sure that tigers population will definitely bounce back

spread the message to all your friends and help save our tigers.

  46. Michelle says:

This is a tragedy that not only affects India. It would be a loss to the entire world if action is not taken and this species is not protected. Every single cub that is orphaned and never sees adulthood, every single teenager or adult tiger that is killed in greed or ignorance is a blow to the wealth of the global community! This campaign should be spread far and wide - the whole of Asia and beyond. The roar should be heard through out the world.

  47. Mishti says:

They need us. Let us unite in protecting our National Heritage and the beautiful creatures that they are! I am so glad that I am a part of this amazing work.

  48. sneha says:

i feel by the next year our national animal will change into a dog cat monkey elephant etc ……. we should not let this happen …… we shall work together………he should not hunt …….not pollute …….not waste….and save the world not only india………i am ready to take a step towards the tigers…are u ready ……..i am just 11 years old and i have realized it all…….but i have no clue about you’ll indian citizens ……..my fav animal is tigers ……..i do not wanna lose them.PLZ I REQUEST ALL OF YOU’LL TO HELP ME IN EVERY MOMENT HAPPENING WITH THE TIGERS…………..

  49. Deepak says:

Not only the hunting of the tigers but deforestation also is a major cause for the decreasing numbers of tigers. the forest department being low of infrastructure cannot stop this hunting and poaching completely. it is the responsibility of the Govt. of India to do something about it and as citizens of this country we need to ensure that it does happen to save our national animal or Tigers too will soon be down in the dust. imagine the sundarbans without the roar of the Tigers and Corbett also sharing the same fate.

  50. Vinod Reddy says:

All i want to say is that this doesn make any difference until people who are responsible to save this beauty beast does it… There is one instance where 2 Indians who has spent all their life in studyin and saving tigers were thrown everywhere when they tried to save this beast… They even took permissions from our so called prime minister(MAN MOHAN SINGH) to arrange a special task force to prevent the hunt of tigers from poachers, and he promised to use all his power to save the animal, that was the last time he was seen on this concern. The sad part his people who fought to save tigers were targeted by our so called shitty government, which forcefully made those true tiger lovers to back down from this initiative.

Coming to save our tigers initiative, giving ads to save our tigers by celebrities(DHONI, BAICHUNG BUTIA, SURYA) just doesn help, who has power has to do something which they can, if they dont have time, they can atleast donate on this concern.

Shocking, disturbing and frustating to hear the tiger crisis already, with so much ads, programs, initiatives and alerts. There were 5 RHINOS KILLED IN 5 WEEKS, so how is it helping the cause??? and how should people beleive that it still can be controlled.

I never mind to kill people who ever is responsible for a single tiger death, rip their skin off and wear it as my clothes. TRUST ME

    GOOD TO KNOW INFO
People just kill a tiger for 10000 Rs and sell it to a middle man who wil keep a margin of around 50000-100000 Rs and then going forward sell it to the main dealer who buys it for a huge amount. Did you know where our tiger skin is going? its all going to Tibet and other neighbouring countries, and professional street dancer use our tiger’s precious and valuable skin as their clother.

People act fast and effective or our tiger’s situation will become worse than siberian and sumatran tigers.
