Our national animal is fighting for its life.
From around 40,000 at the turn of the last century, there are just 1411 tigers left in India.
If we don’t act now, we could lose this part of our heritage forever.
Speak up, blog, share the concern, stay informed… Every little bit helps.

Its very neccessry for the Government to the rules . we cant let this beautiful animal end like this..
Guyz ..common . Half of us are only talking about what kind of a shame it is . How 1411 as a number is alarming ?? How the people at the helm don’t care about it . and how poachers freely exploit the Tiger.. Lets pool ideas .Here’s my 2 cents for a start …
- The most common issue that plagues our National Parks is lack of security infrastructure. we have build a pool of money and volunteer support for the security staff. (ensuring their livelihoods dont get affected as Privatising security is not a great idea..). Involve the Tribals in anti-poaching areas.
Drop in more ideas.. the more we pool in the better we can come to a consensus.logically…
On one hand there is immense pledge that we should save our tigers, on the other The very Respectable Govt of India Decides to give Padmashree to a hunter named Saif Ali Khan (Convicted in lack Buck hunting with Salman Khan). Tomorrow some tiger hunter also, who got acquitted in the case, can be named for Padmashree. Such kind of discrpancy should end first, and we should raise the voice against this to save not only our tigers but also its habitat.
WE CANT JUST BLAME THE GOVT FOR THE EXINCTION OF TIGERS AND OTHER ANIMALS, AND RELAX!!we cant keep blaming govt for everything, type in some words, and sit idle.plz understand that the govt is not killing tigers in the name of poaching. its us, the common people, and the disgusting fact is that its mainly 4 unreasonable silly causes like leather making and medicines.. and this is not the case of tigers only, but all the other beings of nature are suffering because of us ,humans..
dont we have enough medicines availabe from nature, and havent we discovered much, that we are killing our fellow beings like tigers 4 just medicine? the fact is that its actually a wrong belief in many cases.. most of the medicines in markets dont have ny good use. the marketers are captivating on our lack of knowledge yaar!
and what explanation can u give 4 killings in the name of making leather products and othr decorative items?? shame on us that we are buying these things for just boasting and show off!!PEOPLE, PLZ STOP SHOWING OFF BY WEARING AND KEEPING HOME DEAD ANIMAL PARTS!!
and wat abt killing them for fun??who gave us the rights to kill them! how can we think that we are the masters of the nature and all other fellows are just made for our recreational uses and our fun! in fact ,these animals are the real creations of nature !! the nature has given them more strength and more natural capabilities than us. on comparison by god’s grace we are just underdogs ,the secondary weak beings after them! only because we have a well developed brain, are we this much arrogent that we are murdering them for our happiness!!we,the humans are the most cruel and unsensed creatures that the nature has created. no, we had ‘improved’ ourselves to such a pathetic position.our fellow beings dont need our sympaty, they just want their rights back!!
if we want to save our tigers, WE SHOULD TAKE THE INITIATIVE FIRST. yes, understand that each of us can make the difference.conduct some awareness classes in your locality and just get rid of all the misunderstandings that people have about the medicinal use of animal organs and plz make them aware that they are also a part of this earth like us,and like what we are saying in the case of nature, we are closely related to the nature and fellow beings. by destroying them, we will b destroying ourselves, and the future will suffer for these unwanted killings..DONT BE THE CAUSE.. DONT LET THEM TO BE EXTINCT ONE BY ONE, OR A DAY WILL COME FOR US ALSO..
Dear All,
Lets put our hands up together and protect this Royal Animal. Its not just about enjoying the jungle safari and watching tigers its about our planet. Every animal has a role to play in this enviornment and hence each of them are important. If we cant act now, we may never get a chance again. This project tiger was launched way back in 1973 and we are starting to act now. But its never late …. still we can do some thing about it…
Raise our voice… Its time to act..
Law should be more active and no should escape who hunt tigers still. What is this forest department and environment official are doing? India is sort of country where National game have been ignored / unnoticed & not given importance and now it is a turn for Animal I hope. What next - Peacock?
pls save our tigers it is our national animal. so pls save the tiger……….
Hi….blogging is good. But, is it enough to save our national animal? the answer is a big NO.
Please, people. Wake up. We need to do something more than just express our regretful feelings over the toll of deaths of our national animal. Wake up….and shoot those who shoot our beautiful animal.
Dear All! As we all know that tigers are the fame of India. They are our National Animals. But we also know that there are only 1411 or even lesser number of tigers left in India. Some of the people are killing tigers just for their personal benifit. Such people are leading in giving shame to our country. Dont you people think that this is really bad. One day will come when there will be no tigers left in India and so its fame.
So, its time for all to get togather and stop this merciless killing. We need to stop using all leather products. We must also stop cutting trees and jungles as that is the place where they live. The King of The Jungle needs our help and we must help him.
“Save Tigers, Save India”.
I am surprised to hear this
we shame .. puhh..
What the hell we are doing. the greedy people killing to Tigers for plenty money. I am afraid.. we will be reading about tigers in Books, newspapers only if we could not take quick action.

Its a time to take some action from public and government as well, there are just 1411 tigers left in India. When we protect one tiger, we protect about a 100 sq. km of area and thus save other species living in its habitat. Therefore, it’s not just about saving a beautiful animal. It is about making sure that we live a little longer as the forests are known to provide ecological services like clean air, water, pollination, temperature regulation etc. This way, our planet can still be home to our children.
It looks like a long or strange process but it is the demand of situation we don’t have any other substitute, we will have to think very seriously otherwise tiger will become the part of our history book very soon.
Hi Guys,
I am happy to see so many bloggers sharing their thoughts and statistics…but its time to act rather than just blogging!
Its great that there are a lot of people who support this cause and lets make use of this widespread support. Does anyone have any suggestion on how, as people of India, we can act than just share our thoughts? We need a collective effort from all parts of our country and this has to be done soon.
As we all know that sharing our thoughts wont help save our tigers, I request somebody to suggest something that would help us act!
Jai Hind
Dear All
1411 tigers left now….Its number should grow from here…
Well..i would like to say here that civilised people do not kill tigers…its the uncivilised who does it….let create awareness where there are tigers and poachers living together…Government and social organisation has to come forward to stop killing of tigers…hope something is done positive..gopi
first of all, poaching has to prevented in order to save tigers.
its not just a matter of saving our national tiger, but saving a link in the ECOSYSTEM.
any species lost from the ecosystem will damage it seriously.
hi….plz think n act seriously to save our nation’s pride.
Hi, I think Govt should realize that it is high time that we should act now, The project Tiger under prime minister leadership is even not doing well,The no. of tigers have come down drastically, Strict laws should be brought in to restrict people daring to hunt, proper funds should be allocated & its management through educated/aware people should be done who really are working sincerly. Along with this most important fact is that we the people should realize from with-in that extinction of Tigers & Jungles will effect us directly. GOD has given us eco system to grow & survive but we have considered our growth in killing the ecosystem. Which is strange!!! We should pledge not to use animal skin, medicine made of it, should plant more trees, aware people and fund the right organization who are working for this cause. It is scientifically proven that all the eco system..be it be Animal, vegetation, plants, trees, earth, human beings are interconnected ..Spiritually, we are souls of one GOD and we should realize that we are killing our ownselves. It is time for us to stand up & save the King of the Jungle to save ourself. LETS DO IT.
SAVE TIGERS, SAVE HUMANKIND!!!
If some one enter our habitat & tries to disturb it we either trap those or kill it to protect our habitat. But i really regret what are we doing to protect the natural habitat of tigers. Why are we disturbing there habitat. My friends come together to save this beautiful national animal by not bringing them out of thre natural habitat & this can only be done by raising voice against cutting down the jungles. Please show some positive gesture against tigers as they share the same rights on earth as we(humans) do….
Dear All,
Spread awarness to all whom you knw and support NGO’s and reserves which works for Saving Tigers!!
Hi,
this is an Indian. To save our National Animal we must change our minds. Only 1411 Tigers are remaind. This situation is for Our national animal then what about other animals? This movement is required for all types of animals. We change our minds then we can do anything.
And also this is a question that what’ll you do with these blogs?
Dear All , Its shame on our part that only 1411 this beautiful cat’s are left. The Govt should take hard steps to save tham like death panalty to pochers including the local villagers who helps them.
We are late in addressing this issue, but let us not take it lightly as we have done in the past. Make sure tiger poaching carries the maximum punishment under law. Make this a zero tolerance crime. Apt funding for the upliftment of existing national reserves is a must. Make sure the funds collected in this drive is directed appropriately.
I think the Authorities at Tiger Reserves should come up with some plans in which everyone can contribute and make people aware about such plans via. T.V., Newspapers, e-mails, sms’s etc. This is how people will not have to think and just act to save our National Heritage.
I think some strict punishments and laws should be made on poaching and more constructive steps should be taken for the protection of the pride oF India. More awareness about this should be created and more fund should be allolcated and infrastructure developed to save wildlife and Trigers. Even India has the potential to be developed as an international wildlife safari destination.
I hope my grandchildren will be able to see the tiger in the wild - I couldnt…. a cause worthy of support, my and yours.
MY DEARS,
IT IS ASAME TO US THAT ONLY “1411″ “TIGERS” ARE LEFT IN OUR COUNTRY. IT IS VERY PAIN-FULL & WONDER THAT, IF SOME MAJOR STEPS ARE NOT TAKEN BY THE GOVERNMENT AND THE COUNTRY MEN, IT WILL BECOME A HISTORY & OUR FUTURE WILL KNOWN THEM IN THE MUSEUM.
SO, I APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC, KINDLY COME FORWARD AND MAKE PRESSURE ON GOVERNMENT TO LOOK AFTER THIS MAJOR ISSUE, AS IT IS GOING TO BE RARE PICES.
AGAIN I, REQUEST PEOPLE NOT TO KILL ANY PICES WHICH IS RARE TO EARTH, SO I SLOGAN FOR, “SAVE TIGER” SAVE TIGER” & “SAVE TIGER”
I am a business student so would like to think this from a business perspective. All the corporate honchos, I believe it will not make much of difference in your luxury if you dont demand the TIGER product.
Demand from China is also a worry. INDIAN GOVT. pls dont sleep. I dont know when the Wildlife Preservation commities and ministry will wake up. May be our next generation, they’ll miss their national integrity a bit as there will be no National Animal and National bird. Only in pictures as Dodo or they have to see Rusell Crowe’s Gladiator to see INDIAN TIGER.
We are late to adress this issue. Its not natural that TIGERS are extincting as they are the top of Food chain. Its Us, We who are killing them. Aircel pls take this campaign to JIM CORBETT and Sundarban. Educate people there. the Villagers and Forest Rangers(If there are any).
TV will not help. as those people neither use Aircel nor they have TV. They are villagers who help Hunters to kill the Animals.
and the ministers getting so much funds for Wildlife protection. I hope till now you have enough cash in your accounts that you can now look into this and allocate atleast 25% of the fund. And pls arrest those who violate.
I am an Indian. and Tiger is a NATIONAL PRIDE.
It is a sad to know that we have lost so many animals, the govrnment and the state heads will do nothing, but discuss this issue over the media channels and go to sleep. Celebraties kill animals for thrill, and are let off on one groung or the other. Let’s face it we can only talk. Its time we take a call on this and wake up as a nation.
Hey all,
Spread awarness to all whom you knw and support NGO’s and reserves which works for Saving Tigers!!. Raise your voice. act smart, get ur frnds and family involved in this great initiative. SAVE OUR TIGERS. Our Nation’s Pride.
Really feel shame on ourselves………
simply blogging will do nothing……… the authorities should take necessary steps……..
i am very in worry that our indian tigers are not so much safe in india. where this is the national animal. tigers are the pride of all indians.if there are tigers not live safely then where they live safely . This is the very big problem in india, if this matter will not shortout just. then this is very shame on us.for this, indian govt. has to take fastly step, therefore they can safe.for this we have to do imporant work also.
JAI HIND AND SAVE NATIONAL ANIMAL!
We must do something solid to protect our national parks, today it is tiger tommorow there will be lions, leopards, elephants. We need to push our govt to take major steps towards gaurding our national parks, we need to educate people about our flora and fauna. There is alot more than this, but we must start now. All of us should come together to save such a majestic creature, how can we afford to loose them, because of some cowards and traitors…….which are very much there in our govt offices too.
Hey there… I am Arindam. This is really a great platform. And I have already been into blogging and have been writing about the endangered species in my blog http://newsanimals.blogspot.com. Please tell me how can I be more active in “Save Our Tigers” project. What kinda stuff you guys would like me to write on there. I can also use my blogs on amazing animal videos. Just tell me! Keep in touch.. Thanx
Save TIGER… ITS OUR NATIONAL PRIDE. Just putting a picture in Postal Stamps will not help INDIAN GOVT. Pla take Comcrete steps. You have the Funds.
Common guys.
Raise the Roar.
Save Tiger
Its High Time we should look in the matter and save the tigers please………..
Hi Guys,
I am happy to see so many bloggers sharing their thoughts and statistics…but its time to act rather than just blogging!
Its great that there are a lot of people who support this cause and lets make use of this widespread support. Does anyone have any suggestion on how, as people of India, we can act than just share our thoughts? We need a collective effort from all parts of our country and this has to be done soon.

Save our national naimal “TIGER” seriously.Otherwise we will lose the precious animal from natural habitat, which may disturb natural habitat also.so go ahead to save tiger for us.
Its alarming to see the way our National Animal is declining. From 40000 to 1411, the figures itself shows the criticality of the situation. As a responsible citizen of India, as a nature lover and as a person who personally likes each and every species of animal kingdom, I would like to urge and shout aloud to all the people in India, to spread awareness and to react strongly against any illegal activities like poaching.
as someone rightly asked how writing a blog would save the tigers.i myself am bewildered.this idea/website/thought has made everyone aware of the fact that the population of tigers has considerably dwindled over a period of time mainly due to poaching.this i believe is our first step to save the tiger population from going further down and will be the last one too.what we all do and what the ppl who spearheaded this campaign will do after this hype goes down is still a mystry.nobody has a clue to what’s next? it is very easy for all of us to blog comfortably pearched on chair, sitting in airconditioned rooms but we try to sherk from the hard work which has to go in putting the plans into action.may i ask why only tigers.why not we campaign for saving elephants, lions and other species which a loved by the poachers…do we wait till their population reaches a figure which can be easily remembered.we all (ppl ) are a group of voiceferous spectators instead “Let’s Do It”….the next question would be how? ideally it should be done with the Govt’s help.but either the Govt doesn’t find enough time to focus on such (non-revenue generating & trivial) issues or tend to overlook due to rampart corruption.illetracy is the biggest factor which needs to be overcome in order to make this and other similar kind of campaign a success.this should be our long term goal and will take time.it’s time to start educating ppl living near our national parks/wildlife scanturies on the pros and cons of poaching,be it a tiger,a lion or an elephant.this job can be undertaken by the NGOs on volunteer basis.it will happen if we all become sensitive to our environment.afterall we all have to co-exist along with animals and plants.corporates and top celebrities can also help in this campaign by highlighting the cons of killing these animals.they can be source of funding the Govt agencies ( i doubt if the funds will be properly utilised ) or NGOs who genuinely work.last but not the least we all should change our thinking from being too self centered to concerned about the well being of others be it humans, animals or our environment.
Please don’t take this action only as the promotion of any product. It is very serious matter. Please search the actual cause. If each and every indian take this attempt seriously then we must be sucessfull.
Hi everyone Its heartening to see the concern, today its tigers tomorrow its mankind we’ll be worrying about for our ecological balance is going out of gear thanks to our greed to grab and distroy without a want.We blame the poachers but they are mere fishing nets in the hands of the fishermen who go out to the ocean to catch the shark .
Law should be more active and no should escape who hunt tigers still. What is this forest department and environment official are doing? India is sort of country where National game have been ignored / unnoticed & not given importance and now it is a turn for Animal I hope. What next – Peacock?
This is wonderful effort to make people aware about the situation of our national animal. We need to make this effort successful by reaching Maximum number of support from the people, I have following suggestion for the same:
- Make “STRIPEY” a real hero for the Tiger so that more an more people will get emotionally attach to the cause.
- As every cause need fund - we can market the products with picture & Quotes for the Stripey.
- Need to bring this cause effect out of Electronic Media to the practical world & try out to reach maximum number.
- We have make this issue national on priority basis & so that we can create an example for the Human society for saving the Ecology, which ultimately lead to save the life in the Earth.
- Should have to encourage the media & news agency to create an environment for the cause.
- Supreme Court / Government should have to make some strict laws for the poachers & has to resolve poaching case in priority.
( This law can have the most dreaddful sentence , so that poachers will think before poaching any animal… Yes it can raise some human right issue…. but human rights should have to think before raising those issues as ” Humans are not only creature who has right to live “.
Are some of the suggestion but in actual we need to take some steps for the cause in practical, I think just blogging will definately help our King of the jungle to remain King but for immediate effect we need to step down physically..
AS the world is becoming global & being an most powerfull member of EARTH Family we need to start thinking of our other “Earth Family Member” as now we are like Head of the Family for other creatures in the EARTH…….
Our Tiger need help & support to live on the earth, Please ROAR so that our tiger can ROAR!!!
They are innocent and when they enter into the city they tortured by iliterate humans with stones people cannot understand why they are leaving the forest - for food. As most of the forest is captured by selfesh human beings. There should be strict rules and laws for any one who kills or tortures innocent animals will be kept behind bars with a penalty which with be used for the welfare of the animals. There should be a good animal lover and who have good concern for animals to be appointed for animal welfare. The government should raise funds for the animals. It is not only the Tigers this includes all animals. There should be good hospital where they can be taken care of. This all depends on the Government
Hi,
Good to see so much support. Is there anyway i can get in touch with people who would like to do something about this initiative in
Chandigarh.
Thanks
Actually people are become selfish think only of money they are least bothered of any animal suffering. What is the Government doing ?
Dear friends its a very small thing to write a blog to save our tigers for their lives I requst you all to please do so for them thanks your regards
Friends Make one Rule who will kill tigers other animals that human also should killed…..
No stringent action is taken against tigers poachers, this motivates them for poaching. I think government need to come with strict law and ensure that it is put into practice for all coming under it. “Killing tiger should be treated like killing humans” only then we can expect a big change happening towards saving tigers….
It is a matter of shame, that our corrupt system has brought our national animal to the brink of being wiped out. if only the tigers could vote then our greedy politicians might have come with some reservation system with special scheme. the need of hour is a action plan to increase existing forest cover, prevention of forest encroachment, stricter punishment for poaching crimes and also accountability of the forest minister, forest officers and all involved.
ITS time the goverment acts swiftly !!!
This stapes should be taken much earlier. poacher and wildlife trader Sansar Chand have been killed 39 tigers in Sariska and not a single charge-sheet has been drawn up even to this day. He involve to killed at list 100 tigers. the story of the arrest of Sansar Chand reveals the challenge for the system in unearthing India’s poaching cliques.
Batter let then never. It is time for us to stand up and save our national animal.
