Our national animal is fighting for its life.
From around 40,000 at the turn of the last century, there are just 1411 tigers left in India.
If we don’t act now, we could lose this part of our heritage forever.
Speak up, blog, share the concern, stay informed… Every little bit helps.
Aircel has partnered with WWF-India to help save our tigers. Explore the site to know how you can help.

Hi to every please save our Tigers we should take the first step to save the tigers, we should stop the killings of our Tigers.
Lets be Pro active atlease now rather reacting after we lose our national animal…Tigers are one of the most beautiful creatures of the nature..let us save them..I think we the people are reason for so low nos. of tigers now in india..lets take initiative now and save our tigers.Government you are the one who can actually do sumthin about it…please take remedial steps and save our “Natoinal Heritage..Our Tigers………”……
Wake up all! We should all also look at, why is there poaching?…. because there is a demand. Lets all be aware the its also people like us who have unknowingly, been a part of this cirlcle! Its the rich educated class who thinks of it as a status symbol…. Let raise our voices against these people too! Let penalise them too…its our little bit that we can do … HELP CUT THE DEMAND!
Hi ALL, Blogging is not enough here. I feel very shameful when people just talk about the problem and leave the real efforts for others…Who are others…its WE only but oftenly we dont realize. I request to MEDIA which can play a big role to save our nation pride. The person who are killing these innocent animals should be punished like anything, then and then only these shameful acts can be stopped. Lets try to do some sincere efforts at all levels.
Stripey is very cute and the photograph conveys the vulnerability and helplessness of the cub. My heart goes out for the little one. Stripey, I fully support you! It’s pathetic that only 1411 tigers are left in India and the government authorities are doing little to save our national animal. Soon, it will become extinc…t like the dinosaur if corrective measures are not taken to save the tiger.
1. Stringent anti-poaching laws should be implemented. Vigilance and patrolling should be increased in areas which have high incidence of poaching and also areas where poachers are suspected to reside. Police should take active part in this.
2. Govt. should crack down on illegal trading of tiger skins and parts which are smuggled to China and other nearby nations. All ties need to be cut off with these countries if they don’t comply with the ban on this illegal trade. Developed nations should black list countries who eat tiger meat, trade in tiger skin and parts and also stop all financial help to such nations.
3. Rampant felling of trees should be stopped. Reduced forest cover forces the tigers to move to other areas in search of food and they enter human habitat. Tribals / villagers encroach on forest land, tiger reserves, national parks, etc. and all this leads to human-animal conflict. Encroachment on forest land and felling of trees should be stopped. Global warming also leads to death of tigers. So corrective steps should be taken to stop global warming.
Its our responsiblity that we must fight for our national animal. Now its time to do somthing. Wake up for our tiger.
Dear Citizens,
This is to request you that please stop killing tigers. As we all have our family in the same way they also have their own family. So their kids might be needing their parents. As you all know the statistics of the tiger which is far low than they have to be. It is necessary that we should take intiatives in curbing killing the tigers. For that purpose there should be proper implementations of related laws and stringent punishments should be given to the hunters. On the other hand killing of tigers will lead to disturbing of Life- Cycle of living organism. So now there is a need that everybody should lend a helping hand to stop killing the tigers.
I am just want that my child must sea them 1 time. I am till bachalar. You must think why should i think about that much future. But its time to do some thing NOW otherwise its to late
we all are talking about , that government should do this n that, increase the forest area and blah blah blah……..
but my concern is at personal level, had we ever thought, why they have been killed, its because of there skin, and who is asking for there skin, its we the people…….
so why dont we take the initiative to improve ourselves, we all are responsible for every evil , including me……
we are the only who can change, lets change our self , be a good citizen……..
First whn seeing the advertisement of saveourtigers.com on TV i dont use to take it seriously, i dont use 2 bother abt it but later whn i saw the advertisent of a small cub scared & missing her mother i was really heart toching.
Its a gud advertisement, we shud not take it as a advertisement but as if its real.
I request all indians plz save our tigers, dont kill thm they r our national animals… & not only national animals they r also Parents of small cubs so plz dont kill thm & try ur best to save as many tigers as u can…………….
I really appreciate the campaign promoted by AIRCEL.
I really think that the onus is on government and people to save the tigers. It is always pleasure to watch Tigers in ZOO and National Parks, so if we really want such pleasures to exist in future we need to take the necessary actions. TIgers should be saved nyhow.
Stop Poaching of furs and moreover Tiger need open spaces to move so for this purpose Stop Cutting FOrest….This is also one reason which has affected the lifestyle of tigers. They are not getting the proper habitat for their survival. Apart from this the MEDICAL Check ups should be made frequent for them so that if they are suffering from any ailment it can be cured. Anyone who found practising poaching should be maximum penalty.
Stringent Actions must have to be taken from the govt. otherwise we will be bereaved from this National Animal.
SAVE TIGERS….!!!!!!!
1411 estimated Now NO LESS THAN THIS..!!!!!!
SAVE TIGERS…SAVE PRIDE…!!!!!
1.there should be a change in our country’s law.
2.strict against hunter.
3.spread awareness.
4.locals participation.
5.pay more attention towards there dily activities.
This is the very big problem in india, if this matter will not shortout just. then this is very shame on us.for this, indian govt. has to take fastly step, therefore they can safe.for this we have to do imporant work also.
IT IS ASAME TO US THAT ONLY “1411″ “TIGERS” ARE LEFT IN OUR COUNTRY. IT IS VERY PAIN-FULL & WONDER THAT, IF SOME MAJOR STEPS ARE NOT TAKEN BY THE GOVERNMENT AND THE COUNTRY MEN, IT WILL BECOME A HISTORY & OUR FUTURE WILL KNOWN THEM IN THE MUSEUM.
I request all the Indians pls do not kill the Tigers. They are our proued.
I also request our Indian Govt Pls brake the tiger kill. it’s requested by me and my dear friends.
If given a chance, I ‘m ready to adopt a cub (small tiger) & breed it & treat it as a member of my Family!!! I REALLY LOVE tigers, but feeling very sad that they are going to disappear which should never be the case!!!! Please be sensible to this poor & sweet animal. I LOVE TIGER, WE ALL CARE !!!! Even i creid while seeeing the ad in the papers about this liittle one ,2 yrs old waiting for his mother.
hey..plz think n act seriously to save our nations pride. we only left 1411 .
I guess almost all the comments we have read is about what and how we can help. I am sure all of us who have joined know what we are trying to achieve but I am not sure if we have the clarity on how it will be achieved. Can someone please help me understand how we can help… are we going to help set up more guard points and guards around the national parks to catch the poachers, are we going to conduct or be a part of rally against the poachers. Need more details here, as I am sure we do not just want to join and be a member of another website and do nothing.
For that matter I was wondering from where I can get to buy the Save Our Tigers T Shirt, maybe you can get some additional money by selling these T-Shirts, which will not only help us get money and use them to help Tigers someway. Then you also get to create more awareness with people on the street wearing the T Shirt and not restricting it to people on TV ads.
Hey there……. I am MEHUL PATEL. I kindly request to all of you that please save our national animal!! We must protect the tiger and other anilmals. We need to push our govt to take major steps towards guarding our national parks. They have to make new law for this. I further saying , not only to make just law on paper but also to implement them. plz.. SAVE THE TIGERS!!!
firstly govt should bring awaireness in public regard aforestation,it protects all animals even our national pride.
From my childhood days, I have been fascinated by wild life and nature. The tiger population is dwindling which is very worrying. Mostly tigers are killed for skin and or medicines. Govt should take stringent steps.
its too sad to know that a life giving natural element to us is at the end of its survival. it brings twinkles in my eyes. we love our parents, children and are love-once even our pets too. cant we do single step towads the safty of these innocent tigers. i feel we all human beings are too selfish that we cant even imagine what is going to are environment and nature. hold on people, the time will come again when will beging for are lives from nature which we are continuingly destroying.
Please be specific towards the campaign and the actions. Tell where we have to sms to be a part of this revolution
“Wake up People”, as the day is young and long way to go…do not let the nature show it’s actually form. Tiger, the national animal of India is getting extinct… in a way Our Country is losing its identity. Don’t let Mother Nature retaliate and destroy us too… Mother is mother after all, she would not like to lose any of its children dying because of the other children… if she can be blow the sweet breeze to cool us… she can also devastate us by blowing the deadly storm…
As said by Rabindranath Tagore,
“Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever-widening thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake”.
Before I end up let me convey to you why is Tiger important:
• Tiger is the top predator in the chain cycle of food and hence maintains the ecosystem. In one word it checks the population.
• A perfect combination of beauty and power, Tiger, conquer of evil and symbol of fierceness exemplify the cultural importance.
Check out before it is too late to revive our action… because in our life we don’t have replays… it is just the action and start.
Though I’m not in India as a human being this news hurts. I would like to do anything to SAVE THE TIGERS.
Tigers are an important part of ecosystem of our forests…we should leave them unharmed as nature CANNOT afford imbalance FOREST MINUS TIGER… It’s a pity we have to think seriously about SAVING them. PROTECT TIGERS…
We should think about how to save TIGER, Lets Your children see the tigers, don’t let them be a part of history…… “Save Tigers…Save Forest”
I think rapid population growth is a major reason for lost Tigers, the forest area became shorter and shorter, that this animal try to get food from local villagers and killed by them. Govt have to take care about it. If this animal get proper food, environment to reproduction then in future we might see a better nos of Tiger. And of course we have to ban all Tiger made material, if we ban this then why killing of Tigers happen!!!
All of you want to make a difference to this number. Seriously Then start from your very own house. It will eventually trickle down to them..How? Buy what you really really need? Eat simple….Use Water like you would have if there was no water the next two days. Study your Garbage and it takes no treasure hunt to find where & who it will effect. Our greed has made them and every mute creature suffer. If it’s difficult to not alter your ways of living then forget about being sorry for them. Money donated will help them temporarily, but the quest to change our ways of endless consumption is a sure way to their relief.
i really appereceate aircel to start save tiger project,by the help of that project people can much avail about our national animal tiger.its my humble request to all people please make success of this compagine of aircel.
Friends, many people with vested interests spread news of magical cures after consuming certain parts of the tiger and they promise increased desire and satisfaction. All this is hogwash!! No animal part can cure any fertility problem. But guillible people believe it and pay the sky and the moon for procuring it. So why wouldn’t poachers and poor villagers / tribals kill a beautiful animal like tiger and sell it’s parts? Guys, I know u’ll kill me for making this comment but it’s true and a painful fact in India.
The skin / fur is kept in rich people’s or high profile socialites’ houses like a prestige symbol. Only if we stop buying the fur and animal parts will we be helping in saving the tigers. So those of you who are filthy rich and spend money on these status symbols, PLEASE STOP IT IMMEDIATELY!! If you can, donate the money towards saving the tiger. Atleast you’ll earn some goodwill.
its the worst part….people should realise the value of tiger….its our national animal…and really a matter of shame that its very close to extinction…. just 1411 left
hey hi all……………….n pls wht i think…is lyke…as much as a individual can do….is required….fellas….this shld be…….on every news paper..magzine or i think..as celbs like dhoni…bhutia….n others r doin…our bollywood cebs shld also….promote this msg to every one…coz it is a big thing to worry abt…..we can’t let our tigers go vanished frm d country………..n ppl shld be aware of it………go green go global…
Nature has made us …. n we r destroying oue creator….
What can b more rediculeous than this.
Tiger is our national Animal. It means we are destrpying our national heritage…
And only LAW is RESPONSIBLE for this…
LAW should be so strict that sevear unishments should be sentenced to those who break the NATURES LAW!!!!!!!
Save Tigers..
Save Nature…
Save Earth……
Hmm… hope the increasing hands will support the national cause in saving the big cats. I have been loving them before they even became our national animal. I respect their aggressive nature but now feel desolated hearing ’bout their extinction. Their extinction is not the loss for our wildlife but to our nation.
I kindly request to the indian government that SAVE OUR TIGERS. if it will dissappears from our country, we lost one of the most beautiful pearl.
I just request all of the indian be stand for saving our national heritage. This is the right time to stand up. so be with for national animal.
Dear Citizens, This is to request you that please stop killing tigers. As we all have our family in the same way they also have their own family. So their kids might be needing their parents.
Every one is surprised to know that only 1411 tigers have left and thinking to to somthing for this.We can do alot…..We should avoid all the goods made by tiger skin..Govt should be very strict on national parks security bcz almost 90% forest employees and forest ministry is corrupted……
It is very shocking to find tat there are only 1411 remaining.. We need to protect this beautiful creature and I would like to voice my stand on saving our tigers. I strongly urge everyone to voice theirs as well.
I really think the idea put up by Mrinal Dey would be very useful in promoting this cause. Even I wonder where can I buy T SHIRTS for Save Our Tigers, it would really help in spreading the awareness and the money can be used by NGOs working for this cause. I strongly feel this should be taken up by all seriousness. This beautiful species is our national pride, even our reverred PM has expressed the same . God Bless The Tiger.
its wonderful to read so many comments about saving our tigers. but honestly, its no use leaving it to the government. its about time that we as citizens wake up to this call. a simple question is what are we doing? as individuals. its very important according to me that the common man is educated about this. its a shame that in a country of god knows howmany crorres, there are only a few of us who actually feel that something should be done. i had recently visited the forests of tadoba and nagzira and the conditions there were not merry. this was my 12th visit to tadoba national park. and i feel ashamed to say that it has become a tourist centre.
first and the foremost thing i think is educating the masses.. ‘TIGER IS NOT A SIGHT SEEING THING’.. people should know this.. and i think its for the people like us to do it.. at whatever level we can. i am doing my bit by working with some NGOs.. please people, lets wake up… else the coming generation will have nothing but a few photos of our national animal.
It is very shemfull that the Indians are called TIGERS but in India we have only 1411 less , now it is also redusing.
Every country is identified by few things for eg. Australia by kangaroos and so is India by Tigers. We take pride in having assosiated with such beautiful animal. In a way …If we lose these animals we may lose a part of our identity.
PLEASE SAVE THE TIGERS…IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY.It’s shame on humanity to hunt animals for fun.
Let us be humans and save animals….
I don’t know how, but its very difficult to belive that our national animal is at the verge of extinction. If appropiate steps not taken today will lead us to a large roar of demise. Act now as not to reent later. Envisage stringent rules, stop poaching, share knowledge…do whatever it takes. Its like not only for Tigers we should act for but also for other species at the brink of extinction.
I appreciate this step taken up by Aircel, and am sure that there are a lot of us who want to help, but are unaware of the ways by which we can help. So pls update about the same!!!
we must take measure steps against the hunters and make the law hard so the the hunters are also afraid og hunting and we must come togther for saving are national animal and make all the people aware about this so all indian would come toghther to save the tigers. hope sonn the population of the tigers increase fro 1411 to more.
WOW!! we have more comments here on the blog than the tigers that’re left in there!!! shd we be glad that we’ve getting traffic…but wats been done?? has anything churned out?? yet?? anything concrete?? wats d use of letting out urself here, if tigers (or for that matter anything that has life!) are still gonna be killed & hunted down by people who are too cool to care?? wen will we learn to stand up for d right things at d right time?? wen will we learn to care, not just abt d tigers, but abt everything else that is around us?? wake up folks…wake up to ur conscience…learn to take d blame & not pass d buck…
Please save our tigers bcoz it is very necesary for the food chain to continue…………..
and it is one of the reason for INDIANS are known as tigers so save our PRIDE……………………..
I really appreciate the campaign promoted by AIRCEL.

Read this comment, every one convey everyone
SAVE TIGERS…SAVE PRIDE…Save India!!!!!
Thanks
Dear Country men,
I would like to know why we can’t save our animals as well as our nature. This is very horrible to say that we indians have only 1411 tigers…………………….
Regards,
monika
Yes, it is a sad day when we see the numbers of our national animal going down… we need to do something now so that generations to come see our tigers in real and not in just pictures. What needs to be done, a lot by all but I feel the forests need to be made more secure that no one can enter or exit with out the officials knowing. Camera’s need to be placed in the tiger zone areas so that they can we watched and kept secure from predators at all times. Vets should be appointed to help in the breeding of more tigers. I also feel, big corporations should take over these forests and privatize them in keeping the tigers and other animals safe. Annually, the growth of wild animals along with tigers should be seen and tax rebate should be given by the govt to these company’s.
When Sariska tragedy happened, everybody made a lot of noise. Everyone concerned wanted something to be done seriously. Just recently Panna tigers disappeared once for all. Some naturalists had predicted the tragedy unfolding, but the government just did not wake up. Had steps not be taken Ranthmabhore could have followed. Everyone talks about the tiger, but has anyone seen the plight of the tiger’s protectors - the forest guards & other officials. The forest guards can hardly protect themselves against organised & sophisticated poaching, how does one expect them to protect tigers. Do visit any tiger sanctuary and see for yourself what can be done to improve the conditions of the protectors. Strengthen the foundations and things will start to work. Any structure with weak foundations & supports will crumble sooner or later. Thanks
