Our national animal is fighting for its life.
From around 40,000 at the turn of the last century, there are just 1411 tigers left in India.
If we don’t act now, we could lose this part of our heritage forever.
Speak up, blog, share the concern, stay informed… Every little bit helps.
Aircel has partnered with WWF-India to help save our tigers. Explore the site to know how you can help.
Watch this space for updates from Stripey, the tiger cub.
Hi Comrades,
Try to spread this awareness to all the people around, Together we Can make a difference.
This is a good initiative. Just blaming Govt or else will not help in any manner. so…..
SUGGEST -> PLAN -> IMMEDIATE ACTION
Now!!!
Recently the Govt/Court has permitted the Housing Developers to build in forest land, though with some restriction they are all eye-washers. we need to curb this immediately so that we can at least protect the remaining habitat for our rest of all stripey.
Plan a event to showcase to Govt and get the BAN on forest land. The Organizers may please take look on it and tell us how to proceed..
Hello evryone,
First of all I thank to Aircell, which one initiate the process.2day india became a most powerfull country and very bad news we lost our pride and culture.so i request to every one plz support to the save our tiger…….Sare Jahan se achha Hindostan Hamara-Hamara…Hum bulbile hain Eski yah Ghul shita Hamara-2…..
I feel immensely gifted for seeing a couple of tigers in wild during the last decade. At that time, I didn’t realize the significance of that event. However, even after spending considerable period of time in their natural habitat after that single sighting, I am still unable to set my sights upon those graceful creatures. And now I fully appreciate that wonderful scene of a tiger floating effortlessly through the grass hills of Mukurthi. What a sight it was!
I feel not only the ever-dwindling tigers but also other denizens of our forest can only saved by reducing the immense pressure on their natural habitat due to our mindless consumption of natural resources. If all of us take a pledge to cut down our consumption (fuel, electricity, food, water, clothing, etc) even by a fraction, that will translate into a huge help for those creatures suffering silently.
We should thank Aircel & WWF for this initiative. Really its happy to hear now atleast 1411 big cats are there when compared to 550 numbers before three years. We should take this word to the world to do the betterment for tigers in all possible ways. I am proud to be a supporter of this campaign.
It would relly be shameful and matter of disgrace to every Indian if we are not even able or capable of saving our so called national animal TIGER. Pls wake up or our coming generation would find this beautiful and awesome creature in books and pictures only. Everyone think of what he can do to save the tigers, believe me nobody is expecting you to go in jungle and save them but atleast you can raise the alarm and awareness among the people. GOD has given us the ability to think for others and to help others and thats the reason why we are called human beings. Its not only this animal ( a pride of our nation ) need us but we also need them.
Spare 2 mins from your busy schedule for this campaign and you will feel a bit satisfied and better.
Thanks
as we are our citizens of india ……… we all have the right responsibility to save our tigers ……
dont u do this ……… plz save our tigers…..

Pushpander Goel
Firstly i would like to thank aircel who have initiated this process. Its actually very sad to hear that we have only 1411 tiger left. we should all stand together to save our national animal. Try to spread awareness to all the people around as together we Can make a difference. Its actually time to think will our next generation will see them in books and pictures??Pls help in saving our national pride..
It’s good that someone roar about the TIGERS and its good to see that lots of people join this. I like the nature and my favorite is the “TIGER”. I always wished to see tiger through naked eyes, roaming in its natural surrounding.
Now I am traveling through Himachal Pradesh, India and when I had started my journey I had thought and dreamt that I will see d Pride of Jungle – Tiger. But to my disappointment my dream has not come true till this date. As I was driving through the dark night, Instead of tiger, some other wild animals crossed the road which disappointed me but gave me a relief also that atleast our rest of our nature is still existing and saved.
As I was praying hard to get to see a “TIGER” the thought suddenly came to my mind that when it’s only 1,411 TIGERS remaining, d existence of Tiger on this route which is thin populated also is not possible at all. Thinking about the recent times when at night people used to lock themselves in their houses out of the scare that a TIGER might come and attack in search for his food, its too early that today we have to go and hunt and see if any Tiger is available. Our Next generation will be so unlucky that they will see tigers only in TV shows, Circus, Game Shows, Talent hunts and magazines. But never get a chance to see nature’s beautiful creation.
Let’s hope the days come again and I and you get to see the TIGER in its natural surrounding in my life .I write this, as I have some spare time. We people not take interests in these projects, as we are busy in our lives and these situations are being created continuously at random rate by our politicians whom we Chose ‘IRONICALLY’ TO RULE ON US AND RULE ON OUR NATURE AND HENCE SPOIL AND SOON END IT.
As they create these situations, we cant only blame them as we all are responsible for this, we only choose them to run our country .So all of you, please wake up and change the system and our TIGERS will roars again.
Remember – If today the most dangerous animal has come to extinct, d day is not far off when we – who have not been gifted with ferocious and witty tactics, will also EXTINCT….
The project should have been initiated long time back. Now it sounds alarming. Still kudos to WWF and Aircel. Let us save the royal beast.
Hi All,
Hope you all have started to join this project. Its a great initiative taken by Aircel.
Please Pray “All is well” for Tigers.
Arun
Its a great Initiative! I am sure all would have felt the pain of the numbers reducing every year but not finding a suitable platform to express concern . What matters most is Govt. recognition who have to take all steps to protect our tigers from extinction. Pls wake up friends and spread awareness. Can somebody reach out the people actually involved on the killings and enforce mercy ? no ? yes? may be? if law n order in place - this can be avoided.
thanks to aircel for initiating and hammering this thought in our heads on slipping figures day by day!
Plea to all to spread this and lets all jointly address to the govt to wake up to this alarming reality.
Save our Maharaja- Royal Bengal Tiger.
It is ourr prime, our protector & our future
He lives…..we survive.
Let our children be born.
Save Tigers!
Remember… By the time you read this, there may be less than 1411 tigers there in the wild.
Shoot not tigers…but poachers!
http://www.bagherdaak.blogspot.com
GERS ARE REALLY ESSENTIAL FOR OUR WORLD BECAUSE EVERY ANIMAL ON THIS PLANET HAS ITS OWN ROLE IN THE MOTHER NATURE.
IT SIMPLY DISTURBS THE FOOD CHAIN
IF TIGERS ARE GONE NUMBER OF DEERS WILL BE INCREASED THIS CAUSE OVERGRAZING THE SOIL LOSSES ITS FERTILE NATURE THIS ALSO MAY CAUSE A LAND SLIDE EVENTUALLY RESULTING LOSS OF HUMAN LIFE’S.
IN THIS YEAR CHINA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE NO OF TIGERS IN INDIA (1411) BECAUSE THIS YEAR THEY HAVE TIGER YEAR THEY USE THINGS WHICH ARE TAKEN FROM TIGER’S BODY THEY BUY SKIN THEY BUY NAILS THEY BUY BONES
TIGERS CAN ALSO BE PROTECTED BY SOME WAYS:-
1) FIRST THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD CLEAR THAT TIGER BONES ARE NOT USED IN ANY MEDICINES (BECAUSE RURAL PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THESE TIGER BONES ARE USED IN MEDICINES TO IMPROVE EYESIGHT,CURING OF BLOOD ETC.
2) THE SAFETY OF THE PARK (NATIONAL PARK OR WILD LIFE SANCTUARIES ) SHOULD BE INCREASED BY KEEPING MORE GUARD.
3) MAN TODAY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IS EVERYWHERE SOME GPS BELTS ARE MADE WITH A BELT IF THAT THING IS KEPT ON THE CALLER OF THE TIGER IT CAN BE TRACED THAT WHERE IT IS, ITS HEALTH STATUS ETC
4) GENETIC LABS SHOULD BE MADE IN EACH WILD LIFE PARK . IN THESE LABS WE CAN PRODUCE THEM BY ARTIFICIAL REPRODUCTION .
5) STRICT LAWS SHOULD BE MADE ON HUNTING THE TIGERS
Tigers are the most valuable animals, they are the most prestigious I had ever scene, Its very sad that there are only 1411 left. I was shocked by seeing that figure, At least now we have to take care of our loving animal, Though they are cruel and dangerous, they too have the right to live in this world, Remember one thing that if we neglect them, then in future we can see them only in our history books, First of all we have to take care of our forests and we have to control the people who are hunting there and destroying the forest king. So Guys please do Save our tigers.
THANKS TO AIRCEL……………WHICH MAKE ALL INDIAN AWAKE……………………
LET ALL TOGETHER PUT HAND TO SAVE OUR KING OF THE JUNGLE
SO START FORM TODAY …………….
“”SAVE TIGER SAVE HUMANITY”"
hi i just to say, it is good for help our national animal but it only works when we seriously think about it not only write comment. So please take it seriously not for only our national animal but also for them who really need us. so i request u all please help them please i love animal so please love them
Thanks to Aircel!
Save Tigers!
Otherwise the next generation will see tigers only in the ‘Jungle book’
Its a great initiative put up by you guys and its a pleasure to see that we are joining hands together for a noble cause of protecting our national animal and prevent it from being confined to our history books only in the coming decades. Not just an animal the tiger is our pride and it occupies the topmost level in the forest food web and plays a very vital role in maintaining the balance of nature.
so let us promise that we will not let the number 1411 decrease any further…
SAVE TIGERS…they mean a lot to us.
Save the tigers boss ! Otherwise, what do you see in your next trip to Corbett ??

Its not only about our country but a global issue…Endangering of tigers will affect the whole planet..!!
We all will try our level best to save and strive for the existence of this Vulnerable animal..OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL..INDIAN TIGER..!!
On dis occasion of PROMISE DAY..lets make a promise to contribute in every possible manner to save our tigers..!!!
First of all, thanks to Aircell and the personalities for getting this to our knowledge. WE all knew that tigers were dwindling, but we needed some forceful source to tell the exact figures and that is where they have pitched in.
Not only tigers, but any living species going towards extinction is a sorrow sight. If this happens through natural calamity, we can pray to god, but if it happens via human poachers, it is something we need to step in to stop it.
Source of Poaching:
Sometime back, I read it in an article that Chinese people are after these tigers. The reason - superstition. They are heading to a lunar year, which is called “Year of Tiger”, so they wanted to have some part of tiger with them (Teeth, nails, skin etc). So they get in touch with Poachers in India and get the tigers into their country via Nepal. The porous borders and corrupt cross border officials help them in this heinous act.
What can we do?:
Here is where Aircell, we the people of India and the mass publicity need to pitch in and pass our voices to the Govt of India and the wild life department to take swift action to close all the loopholes in poaching.
So, I believe with all our voices and unanimous resolve this can be brought to Govt’s notice and put a stop to Tiger Poaching.
TOGETHER, LET US SAVE OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL.
I thanks to AIRCEL to start this type of projest. It’s nice,a company thniks about the nation benefits. So people save the tigers.
I am really thankful to Aircel for taking this effort of highlighting the pain and plight of Tigers….though this should have been done by Govt. agencies long back…..anywzzzz better late than never…..
I also feel glad that we the youths of India are coming out in huge number to support this cause…..and I feel we should alwzz be united like this in any issue which is troubling our society, country, mankind and nature…
Long live the Tiger…………..as they are the main source of saving the ecology…….and thus are the source of our own existence…..hence if not for anybody…..but lets do it for our own sake and self………
The Three Stages-
In three Decades-
Year 1976- Trip to Kanha Wildlife Sanctuary- The moment alighted from car were loaded atop on elephant and within half an hour saw a tigress along with two cubs in the wild!!
Year 1988 - Trip to Jim Corbert Park — Three days in the jungle only ‘heard’ the stifled sound around the forest house..
Year 2006 - NOTHING-NOTHING-NOTHING
WHERE HAVE ALL THE ‘TIGERS’ GONE-ONLY 30 YEARS PASSING- GONE FOR THEIR ‘SKIN’ EVERYONE—- WHEN WILL THEY EVER LEARN—
Feeling disgusted and remorse for what mankind and its soaring technology has done to nature’s best gifts…. I hope we dont end up with a day when the only animals we see would b in books and computer screens. My eyes fill with tears when I see these banners of tigers being poached and killed for human use. I hope the day comes soon when some comet strikes this planet and kills all the humans forever!
HI FRIENDS,
I THANK AIRCEL AND WWF FOR INITIATING THIS PROJECT. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN STARTED
QUITE SOMETIME BACK. ANYWAY BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.
AS PER MY OPINION , THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR KILLING THE TIGERS SHOULD BE GIVEN SEVERE PUNISHMENT EVEN IF ONE TIGER IS KILLED. THE CONCERNED AUTHORITIES ARE NOT STRICT IN PUNISHING THE POACHERS/KILLERS, MAY BE BECAUSE THE POACHERS ARE LINKED WITH POLITICIANS/RICH PEOPLE , WHO CAN ESCAPE PINISHMENT WITH THEIR POLITICAL/MONEY POWER. HENCE IN INDIA IT IS DIFFICULT TO IMPLEMENT A RULE/LAW STRICTLY BECAUSE OF POLITICAL POWER/ MONEY POWER. WEE HAVE TO PUNISH THE CONCERNED PERSON/GROUP IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR POLITICAL CONNECTIONS, CASTE,CREED,COLOUR,RELIGION,MONEY POWER. THEN ONLY THINGS WILL IMPROVE. IF THELAWS ARE NOT STRICTLY IMPLEMENTED, AFTER ONE OR TWO YEARS , YOU WILL HAVE TO SHOW TIGERTS TO YOUR CHILDREN / YOUNGER BROTHERS/SISTERS, NOT EVEN IN ZOO, BUT IN MUSEUIMS. THERE HAS TO BE REVOLUTION IN INDIA ABOUT THIS MATTER. NGOS, GOVT AUTHORITIES HAVE TO BE STRICT AND HONEST IN THEIR DUTY TO PROTECT NOT ONLY TIGERS BUT ANY WILD LIFE. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO KILL THE ANIMAL UNLESS YOU ARE ABLE TO PRODUCE ONE OR IF THE ANIMAL HURTS/TROUBLES YOU.
TODAY IT IS TIGER, TOMORROW IT IS LION, DEER ANY ANIMAL FOR THAT MATTER. WE HAVE TO PROTECT NATURE. IF YOU PROTECT NATURE, NATURE WILL PROTECT YOU. THIS IS THE LAW OF UNIVERSE. I AM AN ANIMAL LOVER. I CANT THINK OF TIGERS BONES BEING SOLD IN LONDON FOR SOME MEDICINE. SO MY FRIENDS PLEASE AWAKE, SPREAD THIS NEWS/INFORMATION TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE
, BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO INTERNET. SO PLEASE SPREAD THE MESSAGE IN YOUR LANGUAGE IN YOUR TOWN,VILLAGE BY WRITING, READING, SPEAKING TO CHILDREN STUDENTS, ELDERS, POLITICIANS, EDUCATED AND ALL.
WE WILL SUCCEED IN OUR MISSION IF WE ALL ARE STRICT AND HONEST TO THE CORE IN OUR DUTY.
MKSURESH, BANGALORE
PLEASE SAVE TIGERS, NOT JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL, SAVE THEM BECAUSE THEY ALSO HAVE RIGHT TO LIVE IN THIS BEAUTIFUL WORLD. WHY THIS LOVELY ANIMAL SACRIFICE THEIR LIFE JUST FOR SOME GREEDY PEOPLES WHO JUST WANT TO MAKE MONEY.
THIS IS VERY GOOD THAT AIRCEL TAKE INITIATIVE IN THIS GOOD CAUSE, AND I AM SURE THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLES IN ALL OVER INDIA WHO REALLY CARE FOR TIGERS.
SO LETS JOIN TOGETHER AND DO OUR BEST FOR SAVING LIFE AND LET US GIVE THE CHANCE TO SURVIVE THIS ANIMAL.
Gud intiative AIRCEL.Keep it up
IS Govt of INDIA LISTENING??????????????
We cannot afford to lose our national animal
regards
hi,im pushkar from class6 just 1411 tiger are left it is not enough i think that we are not desrvable to tell that we are human being because how we are killing our tiger which is very wrong this means that we should tell us that we are not humans we are animal and the people with that behaviour i dont like, so i take pledge that iwill join in the misson of (saveourtigers.) have you?
Save The Tiger Fund (STF) is a partnership program between the ExxonMobil Foundation and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) established in 1995 focused on the conservation of wild tigers. Major funding for STF is provided by ExxonMobil Foundation and NFWF administers the program. This year, STF is pleased to be partnering with Panthera to increase critical support necessary to stem the loss of tigers in several key landscapes through a co-funding mechanism. STF provides support to projects that clearly demonstrate measurable outcomes in terms of protecting wild tigers and their population recovery. The tiger (Panthera tigris) is a member of the Felidae family; the largest of the four “big cats” in the genus Panthera.[4] Native to much of eastern and southern Asia, the tiger is an apex predator and an obligate carnivore. Reaching up to 3.3 metres (11 ft) in total length and weighing up to 300 kilograms (660 pounds), the larger tiger subspecies are comparable in size to the biggest extinct felids.[5][6] Aside from their great bulk and power, their most recognisable feature is a pattern of dark vertical stripes that overlays near-white to reddish-orange fur, with lighter underparts. The most numerous tiger subspecies is the Bengal tiger while the largest subspecies is the Siberian tiger.
Highly adaptable, tigers range from the Siberian taiga, to open grasslands, to tropical mangrove swamps. They are territorial and generally solitary animals, often requiring large contiguous areas of habitat that support their prey demands. This, coupled with the fact that they are endemic to some of the more densely populated places on earth, has caused significant conflicts with humans. Of the nine subspecies of modern tiger, three are extinct and the remaining six are classified as endangered, some critically so. The primary direct causes are habitat destruction and fragmentation, and hunting. Their historical range once stretched from Mesopotamia and the Caucasus through most of South and East Asia. Today it has been radically reduced. While all surviving species are under formal protection, poaching, habitat destruction and inbreeding depression continue to threaten the species.
Tigers are among the most recognisable and popular of the world’s charismatic megafauna. They have featured prominently in ancient mythology and folklore, and continue to be depicted in modern films and literature. Tigers appear on many flags and coats of arms, as mascots for sporting teams, and as the national animal of several Asian nations, including India [7].
HI!!
Thanks for making us aware that our National animal has become an endangeroud species.
My child is only 4 months old and i am in doubt whether she will ever be able to see a real tiger. As we have witnessed so many good things in life, our childern should also have the same right.
Please help each other so that our coming generation is not devoid of this pleasure and pride of seeing tiger.
Please do something to save the lovely animal.
Thanks Aircel for this initiative.. Lets spread love instead of harming the beautiful creature of God
It is nice to know that we all are sharing the same thought. Our national Animal is at stake.
So are some more endangered species like the INDIAN RHINO, THE GANGETIC RIVER DOLPHIN, THE RED PANDA, THE WHALE SHARK, THE OLIVE RIDLEY TURTLE, along with the TIGER.
I have heard that TITAN WATCHES has specially designed watches for these Endangered species. A specified Amount also goes to World Wildlife Fund to save these Animals.
The watches look good too, and are available at the nearest “THE WORLD OF TITAN”
You can help by buying one of these watches.
“SAVE OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL”
ROARING WITH PRIDE
BRIJESH-CHENNAI
I am happy to know that there is an initiative but how is this going to help to fight the tiger the government needs to take the step to save its national animal we giving comments will not stop porching at all , to Save a tiger porching needs to stopped and if there is a way let that be known
A BIG THANK YOU TO AIRCEL AND TEAM.. I feel the pride to be a part of this team takin a wonderful initiative to save our National Animal… It was so painful to see the small tiger child actually scared and insecure in the commercial shown for awareness of saving our national treasure..
From 40,000 to just 1411.. What can be more shocking… But as they say its better late than never.. If today we do not pass our voice our coming generation will have just the pictures to be viewed in Magazines which will be nothing but a shame for our generation… Lets come together and SAVE OUR TIGERS.. Lets give this noble cause a true meaning…
Hi everybody….first of all ,thanks to aircel for starting such a great movement….DONT LET OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL’S LIFE AT RISK………SAVE OUR TIGERS…….
hi everyone.
this is really a great stuff.
i m ready to do whatever is possible on my end to save our national animal.
just a bit busy
will surely come with great guns blazing all round
Thanks AIRCEL for this wonderful initiative. Its time we people join in hands like the mobile network defying all odds, beyonds boundaries and fight for a cause, fight to save nature and its amazing creatures. Else it may be too late………….
Every animal has the right to live. As humans we have not only demonstrated our greed by poaching tigers, robbing off their right to live, built Tiger Farms for selling their products, made them ‘game animals’, encroached their habitats n most of all lost the essence of being Human; we have become a disease! Its about time we stopped ‘over - crowding’ and start giving animals some space to live peacefully. We have to make a difference now, else there wouldnt be any Tiger or any animal left in the forests/jungles in the next decade.
I acknowledge Aircel for taking this initiative and bringing people together to voice their opinions and most importantly, spreading the word and awareness.
I really really hope there is a countable and significant difference made by the end of 2010.
Thanks!
